Eat your heart out, H.P. Lovecraft!

Podophrya collini is the little round guy, and he's slurping up the insides of a larger prey (Tetrahymena pyriformis, I think) via long tentacles that latch on with contact.

Nature red in tooth and claw (and pseudopodia)!
Cellular structure self-organizes through an interplay between internal mechanisms and external cues. The single-celled suctorian P. collini builds a trap structure to capture large prey using microtubule feeding tentacles, creating feedback between cell morphology and prey availability.

The Butcher of the Forest by @premeemohamed.com is the the kind of book that makes me wish I was better at more succinctly talking about books instead of just a generic “I loved this!”

I did love it though. It evoked a lot of pain and the bittersweet relief following an anxiety attack.

Read it.

As temperatures drop, I urge New Yorkers to know their rights to heat and hot water services, and to reach out to my office if their rights are being violated.

No New Yorker should be left without their home utilities as days and nights grow colder.

For about four years now, we've used nothing but the lithium-ion batteries that have a small USB port for charging. Just like phone batteries, these can be charged hundreds if not thousands of times: Iwasted so much money on AA batteries because I missed this tiny detail

The clue was printed right there… and I still burned through stacks of AAs.

One thing I adore about the quirky local TV show "Your All Time Classic Hit Parade" is its joy, & the fact that the musicians, all wonderful, are not spring chickens (the bassist is 85). The singers range from 30-ish to over 80. Goes to show that talent has no age boundaries.

True. I am avoiding buying US products because of the tariffs. I'm avoiding going to the US because of immigration arrests and general not-safe-to-be-there. And a little "they don't deserve my money/presence." But mostly safety.
I legitimately think this article misses the mark, because Canadians are not avoiding travel out of some principled boycott of the USA over tariffs.

Canadians who are avoiding the USA are seeing images of masked government thugs kidnapping people and teargassing children.

Saw this #sparrow while looking out my dining room window just now.
They love to perch within the climbing rose's branches. Sometimes to chatter amongst themselves, and sometimes to keep an eye on the bird feeders.
Having #birds in the back yard is always entertaining.
