This fall, all the Gen-Z-ers on TikTok can talk about is the Jaspercore aesthetic. "Goin' full jasp" is what they call it
It is time once again to embrace the Jaspercore aesthetic (based entirely around Michael Caine in Children of Men)

(Vance voice) Have you even said thank you yet for the scoldy elitism?
Between this and Sean Duffy and telling us to dress nicer on planes, I think we need fifty New York Times op-eds about the GOP's "scoldy elitism" problem.

Dems should consider modifying section 230 to no longer protect platforms exerting this level of editorial control.
An X user asks Elon Musk why they’re seeing tweets from left-wing lawmakers.

Musk: “Because we are failing very badly with the recommendations algorithm. Doing my best to address this.”

I keep getting served these ads where this self-satisfied woman is eating forkfuls of straight tuna (?) right out the bag (??) in an office setting (???) as something the ad refers to as a "snack meal" (????)

I'm sorry Bumblebee but you're simply asking too much of me.

You know, it’s good that the kids invented the term “mid” just in time for it to definitionally describe all generative AI output

The understated dynamics at work are generational. Younger politicians of both parties, by dint of age alone, not moral character, have no exposure to this scandal. There is very little downside to getting this thing out there, and quite a bit of upside if it clears the career path in front of them.
The dynamics within the Democratic Party are just different from the GOP here, which Trump and Comer don’t seem to have figured out
CNN: What if there are more names connected to the Democratic Party that come out in the files?

Why hasn’t [whatever it is] leaked yet? Is DoJ really that watertight?
Whatever Trump is desperately covering up about Epstein, it’s clearly so bad that he thinks it could destroy him

I don’t care about pennies but I do think US retailers should have to bake sales tax into any listed prices. It just seems transparently obvious to me that the price of a product and the money you pay for it should be the same number.

He avoided prosecution in 2024. His family has already made many billions via sketchy crypto (etc) deals. Vance will pardon him for everything. At a certain point you have to ask, why even remain president?

(Maybe he doesn’t trust Vance??)
Oh boy, Trump calls for an Epstein investigation on everyone else but him

Just found out a building I walk past every day used to contain a recording studio where the Talking Heads and Cars recorded. This fact, and the internet wormhole it's led to, is looking extremely dire for my productivity today.

Unrelated, but this building looks like one of those 300-gallon water containers
The International Criminal Court is ditching Microsoft Office, saying it’s too dependent on US tech, in favor of Open Desk, a German open source alternative.

The move comes after Microsoft revoked ICC head Karim Khan’s email access when he was sanctioned by the US for the warrant against Netanyahu.

my prediction? We'll see more of this Mr Beast-style governance. It's cheaper than actual policy and garners more publicity.
Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem handed $10,000 checks to more than 20 Houston TSA agents at George Bush Intercontinental Airport Thursday, thanking them for working through the 43-day-long government shutdown.

I’ll say it again: It’s a generational opportunity for younger/outsider politicians who never had the chance to be (even indirectly) complicit in this scandal. Not because they’re necessarily good people; just because they’re too young to have been involved.
Donald Trump just called Lauren Boebert to ask her to remove her name from the petition to release the Epstein files.

She does not plan to do so.

Simple—you Search for Spock him. Turns out thru sheer force of will he uploaded his mind into the brain of, I want to say Q(?), and so we spend the whole movie with Q and M trying to put him into a new body that just so happens to belong to a younger/different actor. Bing bing boom
James Bond’s death in No Time to Die is causing a nightmare for the next film. Writers are stuck because Bond “was blown to pieces.”

Anthony Horowitz, author of three 007 novels, says:

“You can't have him wake up in shower and saying it was all a dream."
