I’ll go even further and defend *Nuzzi’s* prose in the limited sense that it seems to be simply the kind of thing you cook up when you have to fill a book with words but don’t have a lot to say (or willingly admit). The function is “fulfill this book deal” and form follows function.

It’s weird listening to the slate political gabfest for years and occasionally hearing the hosts talk about their kids, and all of a sudden one of those kids is grown up, out in the wild, and confidently issuing questionable ideas!
