To #arsecastextra - Goodly morning! While we’re still in the Quadruple this month (with our odds of winning all 4 now 66/1), do you see certain players as best suited for certain competitions? Martinelli looks hot in the cups: any others who seem best suited to certain contests, do you think?

As scrappy and careless a half as you'll ever see from Arsenal, but this game should be done and dusted.

Martinelli's missed chance and Madueke's crap penalty moments we had to do better with.

Suspect there'll be some players getting quite an earful from Mikel Arteta at the break.

Bukayo Saka was always going to recommit to Arsenal, but that doesn’t make it any less exciting

No longer merely the club’s ‘starboy‘, the hope is this deal will signal a new era at the Emirates: that of Saka the leader, Saka the winner.

Arsenal hope this can be an era of Bukayo Saka the leader, the winner, after new deal
The winger has committed the best years of his career to his boyhood club with this latest new contract. Can he lead them to the next level?

Chuffed for former academy boy Arthur Okonkwo. Very much known to be one of the good guys.

A great night for him.

Kai Havertz immediately plays a gorgeous through ball put Noni Madueke in.

Arsenal score from the resulting corner kick.

Eat crow, Lianne.
Lianne Sanderson doesn't think Kai Havertz is a great player.

Can't think of a clearer way to say "I don't know ball" without saying it outright.

Credit to Portsmouth for their performance. Came out with tons of energy. Scored an early goal.

Generally tried to play football against Arsenal rather than resorting to trying to kick the Gunners off the pitch, as you often see in these big club, lower level club matchups.

A great afternoon for Gabriel Martinelli, three really well taken goals, and overall a much better second half from Arsenal.

Good to see Jesus make a contribution with an excellent assist, Madueke had 2 assists despite being v flaky, and we got some minutes into the legs of Kai Havertz.

Job done.

Goodly morning!

Madueke, asked whether the team talks about the title chase, noted:

“We talk about it for sure: I think you have to talk about it. You have to embrace that pressure that comes with it.”

The team feels better equipped to embrace the pressure so far: any ideas why?

Not normal what Arteta is doing with Arsenal. No gimmies. Every team treats their match against Arsenal as their cup final! What a manager.

Be nice if St Totteringham’s day this year was the NLD at the toilet bowl. But I don’t think even they can be that bad. But it’s mathematically possible.

Bournemouth 2-3 Arsenal FT

That was a big, big test for Arsenal, but they came through it.

They now win the title in a whopping 81.6% of the Opta supercomputer's simulations of the rest of the season.

Top of the table at Christmas, can't argue with our league position, but that wasn't the kind of convincing performance you'd have hoped for after Wolves.

Hit the post twice, but also got away with one when Everton could easily have had a penalty.

Still, 3 points the most important thing!

It might be lazy journalism as I said. But Rice was the winner, hands down.

Caicedo in the blue corner, shat the bed and was forced to leave the ring immediately.

A message to the Universe: thank you for not letting us buy that player.
Lazy journalism, the ‘Caicedo va Rice’ narrative. Rice pointed out Wednesday, Maresca Friday: Caicedo is a 6, Rice is a box to box 8.

Match-up to watch:
Zubimendi vs Caicedo.

Just 12 games into his EPL life, the man Keown calls ‘Supamendi’, Spain’s starting 6, is more than up for that fight. 💪🏽
