It sure is a Mike's Lutefisk hat from Glenwood Minnesota!
Pinned
O' Lutefisk by Agnes Schnabel
Often performed by Tennessee Ernie Fjord (Richard Sivertson) and the Glenwood MN Men's Chorus. Sung to O Christmas Tree.

Damn, as somebody raised as a Methodist this really hit close to home. Also, I remember that my Catholic grandmother's funeral was way better than my Protestant grandfathers'.
Places that have survived immense national and cultural trauma like Argentina and Ireland have beautiful, cathartic mourning traditions and I worry we won't emerge with our own because foundational American Protestantism is mostly about ignoring pain because you have to go to work tomorrow.

The most important book of my life was stolen from a 12 grade English Class where we sang Bohemian Rhapsody every morning instead of the pledge of allegiance. (This was done against the teacher's wishes)

This book is from my childhood and I remembered this very catchy word puzzle a couple years ago and have been wondering about it ever since. But couldn't remember anything other than CHESTY and CHASTY and then I chanced upon the book in an old box this week! I have finally solved it 30 years later!

We’re supposed to be awakened at ungodly hours by more news of an expanding Israeli horror that risks dragging the whole region into war.

The first casualties of Israel’s bombing of residential buildings in Tehran were sleeping children, but we’re meant to speak about this in sterile terms.

I'm sure someone else will come to the same conclusion but the solution to AI essay detection is a key stroke logging app. Universities and Highschools could easily require a log for your essay writing time. Could be beaten by someone retyping something but the cadence change would be detectable.

Long but informative and entertaining shredding of a misinformation grifter. Love to see it.
Suzanne Humphries has been in the anti-vaccine game for at least 15 years before she talked to Joe Rogan last week. You’d think with all that time, her claims would be harder to debunk. But they’re so unhinged that she makes it easy. m.youtube.com/watch?v=M9xb...
