In a just world, the next time Hegseth talks about the “lowering of standards” for women, a reporter would ask him:

If it was so easy why didn’t you go to (insert selection or ranger school)?

so many of our current problems stem from americans not being able to comprehend that a guy they know from tv might actually be stupid

Topic du jour in the office was the lack of functionality in ATIS vs DTMS

The previous week everyone was talking about drones and acquisitions being streamlined and how it’s good to move away from the same companies. Move fast, break things etc etc

No dots were connected.

Good news, bad news.

Good news, they stopped the gerrymander.

Bad news, there are some easy layups in terms of nicknames that Trump can run with. Bassier? Glick? Good luck patriots 🫡

Indiana gerrymandering absolutely clobbered

Huzzah, a Hoosier saw its shadow and now we get 6 more months of democracy
Normally we have wait four years for a handful of randos from Wisconsin or Pennsylvania to determine the fate of our democracy- but Christmas has come early folks, a new set of randos, from Indiana, gets to tell us if this experiment of ours is likely to continue or not

Zohran tried to build some grocery stores and people shit their pants. But we are about to spend 1 billion dollars on pull up bars at airports.

we all got cowed into avoiding "virtue signaling" as if the public affirmation of socially agreed upon ethical principles was somehow cringey instead of a significant part of what a "society" even is. now all there's left is vice signaling, and it's reshaping society.

The current regime tells me that the reason the housing crisis is so bad is bc immigrants are coming here to collect welfare and handouts…imagine how many homes the wealthy ones are gonna buy. Sometimes it feels like they might not be telling me the truth.

In our latest installment of “what if a democrat said that”:

we have the President of the United States saying: besides the MURDER of a US Army Soldier and the another being shot in the face…things are looking pretty good no???
Trump: "Washington DC, we had the tragedy which was a terrorism tragedy, but we have Washington DC the safest its been in 52 years."

The same people who will nod along with this emphatically not knowing what they are agreeing to will also tell you about how they loved there wasn’t an expectation to tip when they went on their European vacation. And they will say both without any sense of self reflection of their politics
Rand Paul on his healthcare plan: "What if you could join Costco? Costco has 44m members and if one person negotiated for all 44 and they bought a group plan like Toyota or General Motors does, they would be the largest collective entity in the country. They would drive prices down by sheer might."

As expected, the big brains on the other site are brushing this off as nothing.

Not that it matters, but when you have to change your underwear at the idea of the Sec Def berating a bunch of generals about standards it’s hard to then take the stance that blatant uniform violations are “meh”

While these bellicose pussies wax poetic in the New York Times, never forget that it will be young American men tasked with taking the hill when the time comes. Whatever the technology, that last part is inevitable.

The greatest example of the civ/mil divide is not that your crazy uncle doesn’t understand T10 authorities when it comes to domestic operations

It’s that civilians are under the impression that our next war involves drones flying from china to try to knock out the Golden Gate Bridge

Getting rid of shaving profiles, giving contracts to donors & offspring of the President, and removing women from positions of power seem to be our only motivation right now.

But good to know the NYT will continue to run cover for the dumbest people in the DOD.
I see the gizmo cult has made its way into the NYT

Not as important, but of note; these guys look so unathletic and chud like. Part of me wants to get profiled by them just so I can run the extra half mile and really make them showcase their unimpressive fitness standards.

You guys look like absolute doofuses
When you see those viral videos of some 101 year old WW2 vet crying and saying, "this isn't my country anymore," I wonder if this is how they feel.

fwiw i think it’s probably better to look at this as Masks Off rather than Power Corrupted. Federalist Society folks have had this dripping contempt for their liberal and moderate colleagues, for decades. It wasn’t hard to see, it was just lightly veiled, if at all.
The dripping contempt the right wing SCOTUS majority holds for district judges is truly a sight to behold every time. When they deign to give actual reasons for their shadow docket holdings, it’s “look at the absolute idiots who keep getting everything wrong!”
