Want to know more about Flock, the mass surveillance company whose camera systems are spying on Lakewood?

Flock is looking to expand their clients from police to commercial data brokers. They're eager to make $$$ selling your privacy to anyone with a credit card.

Do you know about Flock's mass surveillance of Lakewood? Flock places and monitors license plate-reading cameras. That's an interesting way to say 'intrusion of privacy.'

Again, I don’t want to get too personal but the most tepidly political, structurally vulnerable people in my life were protesting ICE all week. The juxtaposition here is just wild.
The degree to which the Democratic Party is failing to meet this moment is staggering. And INFURIATING, when contrasted with the courage on display from ordinary people with far, far less power & protection.

Today is Trans Day of Remembrance.

According to Advocates for Trans Equality, at least 27 trans & nonbinary people have been killed since last November

That number is likely an undercount

Trans rights are human rights.

We see you, we value you, we will fight for you.

We want to tell you a story about our city, and what ICE is doing to it. ICE showed up again this morning to kidnap people. Eight people are known to have been taken in raids on Lakewood already.

We have a Home Depot here in Lakewood, right by the mall between Albertsons and Best Buy. 1/

This morning our members visited the offices of Senators Padilla and Schiff to tell them we need them to call on Sen. Schumer to step down as Senate Minority Leader.

Lakewood Indivisible is out here fighting for democracy, and we need leaders who will fight just as hard as their constituents.

People have largely tried to act like ICE/CBP failed and retreated from LA and that is completely untrue. If it weren’t for the relentless coverage of places like @lataco.bsky.social these stories would be completely under the radar.
ICE has been raiding my neighborhood and surrounding ones for the last couple of weeks now. They commandeered my local church (against the pastor's will) for a staging site and raided supermarkets, parks, Goodwills, bus stops, you name it.

The national media's been silent. So has @mayor.lacity.gov.
Engagement on our updates re: ICE kidnappings/fed siege of Los Angeles is significantly lower on Bluesky compared to Twitter. Do ppl on here not care about LA anymore? Are feeds being taken over by liberal commentators? What's going on?

Community members on the ground can't do it all. We need help.

This has to be the demand - not just a unfocused "fuck the cavers", but a focused demand to replace Schumer with someone who has already proven up to the moment. I will be making regular calls to have Schiff and Padilla demand this, and the more of us that do the more real it could be.
