In a speech to the World Economic Forum, Mark Carney says middle powers such as Canada must accept that the rules-based international order is effectively dead, and great power rivalry with is here to stay. Key excerpt:

I have decided to mute or block - in extreme cases - anyone insisting that Canada is a hair away from going the way of the neighbours. First, we are not. Second, there are a lot of solid reasons that it could not be replicated here. Do we have conservatives with those ideologies? Yes. But /1

PM Carney is protecting what most Canadians want - safe dairy and food.
He will only sign a deal that is good for Canada.
So when people (con traitors) talk about countries that have already signed deals it means they want a deal that favours the USA, not Canada.

Prime Minister Mark Carney reaffirmed he’ll protect Canada’s supply management system, as the United States signalled it's ready to fight over this country's dairy rules at the negotiating table.

Finland ended homelessness with a housing first strategy that gave people apartments before they secured employment

Now they’re proposing a 4 day work week and 6 hour work days

True work life balance

Meanwhile in the US, people work two jobs and can’t afford food or healthcare.

The Trump doctrine is clear: they want to break European alliances while promoting the extremist far right.
Nice to see this response from the deputy PM of Poland.
America is a threat to the world.

Carney has always been three steps ahead of the others in the room. Hence his well-earned international reputation as a future-focused strategic pragmatist who gets things done. The falling price of fossil fuels and impossibility of getting permissions from diverse stakeholders doom this project.

PM Carney hit “reset” on a comprehensive trade deal after 15 years of false starts. With global supply chains shifting and both economies hungry for new partners, this revival could be one of the most consequential pivots of 2025.

PM Carney was asked when he last spoke to Trump: "Who cares. It's a detail. I'll speak to him again when it matters. I don't have a burning issue to speak with the president about right now. When America wants to come back and have the discussions on the trade side we will have those discussions." 👏🏽

IMO this is the best way to resolve the trade issues with the USA.
It is obvious rational discussions are not possible.
Every new agreement etc greatly strengthens Canada's position.
Canada is strengthening our position in the world while the USA destroys theirs.

The soft pedaling language being used to describe the men in the Epstein files is enraging.

They didn’t “have sex with underage girls”.

They raped them.

Sex implies consent.

The survivors deserve better than this. Use the correct language. Say what these men did.

🇨🇦 On April 6, 1987, President Reagan stood in Ottawa and called Canada “America’s best friend.” He urged both nations to tear down trade barriers and build “a new economic frontier of freedom.” Due to Trump’s policies that vision feels like ancient history.

I think the Reagan ad is most effective not by the topic but by reminding everyone that presidents don't have to sound like insane morons.
