Hey Bluesky folks, I need your help. This is going to be a bit of a thread.

This summer I discovered that a close friend was about to lose the property he'd purchased (from our local municipality, more on that later) and the cabin he was building on it.

No. Ronny Raygun was a criminal, drug dealer, thief, weapons trafficker, and Grade-A asshole. He should have gone to prison for the Iran Contra Affair. Most of the destruction of this country can be traced back to him and his BS supply side theft. It's no wonder conservatives worship him like a god.
Ronald Reagan, a cold man who ignored the AIDS crisis because he was a homophobe and craved the votes of other homophobes, is *not* a reminder of anything good or decent.

It's official.
This is how you know that Gavin Newsom is no better than Trump on all the issues that matter.
“If you’re a taxpaying, hard-working California citizen, you love Gavin Newsom”

Something we’d never thought we’d hear on Fox News.

Thank you, James Woods!

This kind of shit is why I didn't follow some other authors to Threads. Facebook sucks and has been pulling this kind of anti-free speech, authoritarian bullshit for years. Why switch to another of their platforms? Now they're doing it again.
Meta has removed or restricted dozens of accounts belonging to abortion access providers, queer groups and reproductive health organizations in the past weeks in what campaigners call one of the “biggest waves of censorship” on its platforms in years.

I really, really hope she's right. Something's gotta change, or our country is cooked.
AOC: We're looking that there could be a cycle where R+10 seats flip to Democrats. And so if Republicans want to draw a map that makes them more vulnerable to that, that's their decision to do that.

Raju: Do you think there will be a blue wave?

AOC: I think so.

THIS!! Want to know where all the waste, fraud, and abuse is? Check out the DOD!
Military spending should bed reduced by at least 75%. The GOP is fucking insane with waste in military spending. Notice that DOGE never touched military agencies.

Appalling. No insurer should be allowed to use AI to deny requests for care, but especially not Medicare or Medicaid.
In January, the Center for Medicare & Medicaid Services will roll out a pilot program that will use AI to review Medicare patients' requests for care.

Insurers will get rewarded when they deny care.

What could go wrong?

The Beaufort Sea (north of Alaska, northwest Canada) has iced over, with less than five percent of the basin remaining as open water as of November 11. Compare that to the 1980s and 90s, when it wasn't uncommon for "ice over" to happen in September. Data courtesy NSIDC. #akwx #Arctic #SeaIce

This. Sometimes simply giving the gift of being able to pay a bill or being able to buy groceries is HUGE. There's absolutely nothing wrong with giving cash, and it can be a great gift.
Consider the gift of cash if you're not sure what non-cash gift someone would enjoy. Apply this thinking to universal basic income too. You don't know for sure what someone else needs. Only they do. Trust them to buy what they need when able to.

This is really cool. And "Because it’s a cooperative, it’s run as a nonprofit. That means the telecom’s goal is to deliver faster service and low rates, not necessarily generate a profit." We need more stuff like this in Alaska!

Planned fiber-optic cable will add backup for Alaska’s phone and high-speed internet network
The project, set to come online in fall 2027, is expected to bring more reliable internet and phone service to several isolated coastal communities.
