This announcement embodies the staggeringly poor state of the UK government, it's complete capture by vapid policy gimmicks, and its wilful technical & cultural illiteracy (to be sold / buy into such thoughtless tech-solutionism). It's hardly worth us analysing critically - none such went into this.

If the Greens pull off a win in Denton/Gorton I'm going to finally join and get properly stuck in

I promised myself I'd never join another political party after spending literally hundreds of hours on the doorsteps for Labour only to be told "theres the door"

If they pull this off though? I'm in

And there we have it.

The Government are admitting Gorton & Denton is between the Green Party and Reform.

Let's make sure hope wins.

Week by week - Laura Kuenssberg is interviewing the party leaders.

When I agreed to come on the show, I was told Nigel Farage was also doing it.

He's now pulled out - and they've sent the deputy instead.

The same Nigel Farage who's refusing to debate me.

A pattern emerging...

It wasn’t the racism.
It wasn’t the rule breaking.
It wasn’t the corruption.

No Jenrick gets removed for plotting.

Politics for too many leaders is just a game, and not a moral one.

It’s why people are crying out for hope.

Moments later he declares that sticking to international law is what we stand for as a country.

Jonn is correct here and the explanation is IMO pretty simple: crackdowns and racism Thatcherism is absolutely non-negotiable; our governing class will never permit any deviation from it, ever, so this is all that’s left until they finally lose the rag and decide it’s time for Farage and fascism.

I urge people to note that when they say “politics” they mean “continuing to enforce the Thatcherite consensus with a thin veneer of public consent”; that these things are the same thing, to them, and that a lot of very nasty people have big ideas about what must be done, if “politics is broken”.

The Harris campaign was the exact kind of campaign that reactionary centrists wanted, & it blew up in their faces spectacularly

Starmer's tenure as PM has exemplified the way reactionary centrists want a party to govern. It is also blowing up in their faces spectacularly.
so it happened - greens just met labour in the polling average
