Unsurprisingly, the AP declared Christian Menefee the winner of the all-Dem #TX18 special election. He'll *finally* replace Sylvester Turner, who died almost 11 months ago.
Menefee will also have to face longtime Rep. Al Green in the Dem primary on March 3, thanks to the new GOP gerrymander.

UPDATE: The Democrat won the latest batch of roughly 6,000 votes, continuing to dominate in the count.
The Election Day vote is bluer than the early vote day so far.
With 55K votes in, Rehmet is up 57% to 43%.

They are more representative of a midterm electorate though given the lower turnout. Also, there were a lot more middling results in 2024 that were skewed by co-occurring primaries and other elections.

THEY DID IT. EVERY SENATE DEMOCRAT just voted on an amendment to DEFUND ICE (rescind the BBB slush fund that keeps ICE open during a shutdown.) This amendment failed, but it shows broad support! KEEP CALLING and make it a demand to vote for the DHS funding bill!!
👀 Every Senate Democrat + Collins and Murkowski just voted for the Bernie Sanders amendment to repeal the $75 billion in additional ICE funding under Trump’s “big beautiful bill.” The measure failed 49-51.
