Nope, opened wide this weekend.

KISS OF THE SPIDER WOMAN didn’t even make a million dollars this weekend. Lionsgate barely promoted it, and due to the subject matter they were probably terrified of being attacked. That’s no excuse, though. It’s a tremendous movie and deserved better. What a shame.

I did a thing. Incredible friends, wonderful location, and a beautiful bride. I’m a lucky guy.

But really, you probably won’t have to run, and if you got good hand-eye coordination, hey, free Frisbee
alancerny.bsky.social
Yeah, go ahead and make fun of us Tron fans. I get my hands on a Frisbee, you’re gonna be running away at a medium pace you bastards

I know I’m the minority here, and that’s fine. I watched a few episodes of I THINK YOU SHOULD LEAVE, and while I did find some skits funny, most of them didn’t work for me. FRIENDSHIP did a complete fly-by (although the toad bit was funny).

I can’t watch Tim Robinson stuff. I tried. Quite a few times. It may be generational, and I do enjoy watching comedic losers comedically losing, but that guy… perhaps his “idiocy” is just too close to the real-life dipshits that seem to dominate our world today. It’s nails-on-chalkboard for me.

The left should stop playing defense whenever the right says something stupid and attacks them. You gotta come at them with claws.

“Antifa are destroying our cities!”

“Have you actually eaten a meal with utensils? Do you have special bibs for each day of the week?”

Ooh, get the skinny on any SPEED RACER 4K physical release. Yay!

This is my favorite video of the weekend. The joy of the guy who saved his favorite wrestler from elimination.

Mexican luchador Charro Negro being helped by a fan to avoid being eliminated touching the floor during a Battle Royal match. 🤼

Alvy Singer (Allen) spends much of ANNIE HALL trying to dim Annie’s brightness and the movie does fault him for that, to give Allen credit. Annie cares for Alvy but she’s on her journey, and Alvy rightfully realizes she’s better off without him. ANNIE HALL really is as great as its reputation.

Keaton’s so good that even Allen recognizes that the movie sorta deflates when she’s not on screen (the movie even comments on it in the text).
alancerny.bsky.social
ANNIE HALL transcends the Woody Allen-ness of itself because Diane Keaton’s performance is so strong. It originally had quite a different edit to it (titled ANHEDONIA) but even Allen with his ego knew to step aside for Keaton’s greatness. If boycotting Allen, watch it for her, not him.

PEOPLE UNDER THE STAIRS.

Although I’m fond of SHOCKER. It’s goofy as hell but I love it.

KISS OF THE SPIDER WOMAN: Triumphant. Tonatiuh is tremendously great, so’s Diego Luna. Probably the best performance of Jennifer Lopez since OUT OF SIGHT. Bill Condon should be allowed to make musicals as long as he wants, forever. This is one of my favorite movies of the year.

You have to create new things for the younger generations to get excited about, and cast actors in their age group.

I bet a STRANGER THINGS movie, in about 5 years, with the cast returning, big production values, and a two-hour movie would make huge bank.

It's time we gave Gen-Z some movie memories as good as the ones we were given in the 1980s.

I think a big problem, though, is two fold - no original material for them like we had, and the material they would feel nostalgic for isn’t conducive to cinema. It’s television and games. I think MINECRAFT and FIVE NIGHTS are outliers.

Absolutely correct.

I want to make it perfectly clear I've got nothing against TRON: ARES. I'm looking forward to seeing it.

But what I want most is for the younger generations to love going to the movies, which means we need more movies for them. Not every movie needs to be for 50 year old white guys.

Diane Keaton in ANNIE HALL. That’s it, that’s all you need.

Seated for the latest Marvel concern, KISS OF THE SPIDER WOMAN.

I think it’s weirdly appropriate that TRON is the franchise “Most Likely To Get A Wedgie In The Locker Room” if it were a high school kid.

And I’m proud to be on the Grid
Where programs yearn to be free
And I won’t forget those that derezzed
Who gave their lightcycles to me
And I’d gladly rise up next to you
Against the MCP today
Cause there ain’t no doubt I love the Grid
And all the Bits say yay!

TRON: ARES would've been a blockbuster if they let Lee Greenwood do the score.
