yeah it's extremely funny because the people who are extremely insistent that their politics are revolutionary spend all their time trying to not to get in trouble which ensures that that existing power structures literally have to exert no force at all to pacify them
It turns out that almost every single social media/keyboard revolutionary leftist literally doesn’t understand that the entire point of civil disobedience is about getting arrested. That’s the feature not a bug! I just assume they’re all cowardly idiots at this point.

that is absolutely true. I know many people far to the left of me who are fearless beyond measure. I see them every single day here
I think it’s important to not paint the entire left with the behavior of a few dipshits. A lot on the left have you props for your efforts and are also putting their safety on the line. Don’t fall to the temptation of division. Some of this online crap is an attempt to foment it.

The Star Tribune had an insane graphic about the presence of immigration enforcement in Minneapolis. There are more immigration officers in the metro right now than local police officers.

Observers are also listening to police radio chatter and they aren’t, let’s say, being friendly about the feds. You can be the coppiest cop alive and not appreciate a barely-trained, heavily armed rabble bombing the city with tear gas and causing unrelenting fear and chaos.
i really think this is gonna be a big ol' schism - my rr spotted undercover cops grouping up and went to observe, first thing one of them said to me was 'we are NOT with immigration.' an extremely distrustful and alert populace is also bad for genuine police work and that WILL have consequences

WH sources say Venezuela's opposition leader committed the "ultimate sin": She accepted the Nobel Peace prize.

“If she had turned it down and said, ‘I can’t accept it because it’s Donald Trump’s,’ she’d be the president of Venezuela today,” one said.

it's crazy that 500 years ago, you would see the ruler of your country maybe once in your life and hear whispers that they're the Sun God, but now with social media, you get to see on a daily basis that they're the most unhinged, idiotic, and unhappy person you know

This excerpt is insane, from beginning to end. Here’s an @nytimes.com piece on Karp that comes from a very different angle (but also involves tai chi).

Increasing the House would be good for other reasons but do very little about gerrymandering. State legislatures with much smaller districts are still badly gerrymandered.

Proportional representation would make gerrymandering impossible, or Congress could impose strict limits on House redistricting

Soon small businesses won’t have to wait for Small Business Saturday to get attention from their Mayor.

Some changes that they can look forward to:

I don't know if Rep. Greene is sincere, but it does matter that she's saying this. Public officials' public posture sets the tone for the political and cultural milieu.
BASH: We have seen these attacks from the president at other people. It's not new. And I haven't heard you speak out about it until it was directed at you.

MARJORIE TAYLOR GREENE: I think that's fair criticism. And I would like to say, humbly, I'm sorry for taking part in the toxic politics.

Call it the Everything, Everywhere, All at Once playbook. This is a country of 340 million, with half of it all stored under a single tent. There is no option but to run local, subtly or overtly distancing oneself from the nebulous but unpopular national brand whenever necessary.
Neither Zohran Mamdani nor Abigail Spanberger are the future of the Democratic Party.

We won’t win by imitating either campaign, but we’ll win by doing what they both did: running local-first campaigns, giving people a vision for the future, and rebuilding the American Dream for Gen Z.
