It’s not so much that Trump & co don’t think slavery was important, they want to remove this history precisely *because* of how important it was. They don’t want people to learn about slavery because then people would understand how it continues to shape the landscape of inequality in America today.
Signs about the history of slavery in the U.S. and the 9 people George Washington enslaved are being removed right now at the President’s House Site in Philadelphia, across from Independence Hall, months after the Trump administration threatend to do so.

How far we have not come in 250 years.

In our conservative estimate, 41 percent of Grok’s images — or 1.8 million — were sexualized depictions of women. Separately, CCDH analyzed how many were sexualized images across genders and ages. Their findings: an estimated 3 million images, including more than 23,000 of children.

But seriously thanks @indivisible.org for the hour of phonebanking my way out of utter hopelessness. Asked people to implore their senator to hold firm on no appropriations until ICE is reined in. Some really great convos. A reminder that all eyes are on MN & we are sick w rage.
You haven't lived until you've been on an @indivisible.org phone bank Zoom as 650 people ask questions in the chat that have already been answered.

Mental institutions have more power than police

They can drug you, keep you, and involuntarily commit you based on literally nothing. One of the biggest missed opportunities in criminal justice reform is uniting with the disabled rights movement in abolishing 51/50 laws which are used against women

He's just straight-up telling everyone that he's deployed a vicious occupying force to brutalize an American state and terrorize every non-white resident because they didn't vote for him
Trump: "MN is a very corrupt place & the elections are totally corrupt. I feel I won it all 3 times. Nobody has won it since Richard Nixon. It's a rigged state. The Somalians vote as one group even if they're not citizens. They all ought to get the hell out of here. They're bad for our country"

This shows what I think was more her preference, and, yes, it is quite edgy: daily.jstor.org/sophie-schol...

I think there are various reasons why you usually see her depicted with longer hair (including the obvious reason that that's how it is in the mug shot), but it's still a bit of a pity.

Sophie Scholl has become the face of resistance to Nazism. That took decades, as the legacy of resistance itself was resisted.

THIS is IT.

Community wins.
Minneapolis and Saint Paul have basically mobilized into a war economy of mutual aid and non-violent defense. I’ve never seen anything like it, even during Covid. People who barely vote are guarding their schools from ICE and doing the shopping for neighbors in hiding.
This is so smart. I’m so impressed with all the different ways you’re helping your neighbors.

🧵One of the small acts of defiance I've engaged in (nearly) every day since the election is...well, flossing.

I was, uh, sporadic? before & just thought "they're gonna fuck up healthcare, I better take up spite-flossing." For teeth & gum health, obvi, but also HEART & apparently BRAIN! (see next!)
People really really downplay dental health. Cavities are not the worse case scenario here. Poor oral health can kill you

COME ON.

Almost a majority of Americans WANT TO ABOLISH A POLICE AGENCY.

Given how insanely obsequious our entire culture is to law enforcement these days, that is a WILD NUMBER.

It earns at least one bucket. It really does.
NEW: In this interview, Chuck Schumer describes the "five buckets" Dems think are key to their possibly winning a Senate majority in 2026: housing, "the high price of food [and] food monopolies playing a major role there," electricity, "the high cost of childcare," and health care.
Zero Chucks Left to Give
Chuck Schumer now sees a path back to the majority. Can he manage his way through it?
