Age verification is still a hot topic we also cannot let slide, reminder of the big danger it poses, specially to marginalized people.

We do not have the luxury to ignore this. Say not to the surveillance state.
Discord confirms that government IDs used for age-verification were compromised in a hack with a vendor.

Who could have predicted?

Oh, right.
Discord users suffer the first high-profile age-verification hack – and it's unlikely to be the last
Critics of age verification laws warned this was inevitable

With the newer moves from Mastercard I honestly think we need to hammer it into content creators in progressive spaces that they cannot keep the luxury of ignoring the issue of payment processors. We shouldn't had when it started and Sex workers sounded the alarm but they need to wake up now.
That's why we need more big people to start taking on this topic regardless of how icky they may feel, the bigger a ruckus we make the easier it is to fight against it and it's really fucking infuriating how just a few have even approached the topic, specially in journalism.

i am spreading the word that we gotta keep calling our reps and senators to oppose these bad internet bills!
So what can you do? 🤔

1. Continue pressuring your lawmakers, let them know how unpopular and dangerous censorship and surveillance bills are.

2. Spread the word! Many people have no idea the internet they know and love is under threat.
