The general strike today, and the Whipple building blockade, and the march downtown - all amazing and incredible turnouts, but nothing is hitting me so hard as the masses of clergy who showed up to the airport to protest this morning. And I'm not even religious.

Verizon is Down: iPhones Show 'SOS' Mode Due to Network Outage
Verizon is experiencing a major outage across the U.S. today, with hundreds of thousands of customers reporting issues with the network on the website Downdetector. There are also complaints across Reddit and other social media platforms. iPhone users and others with Verizon service are generally unable to make phone calls, send text messages, or use data due to the outage. iPhone users may see "SOS" in the status bar, as the device cannot connect to Verizon's network. AT&T and T-Mobile customers may be indirectly impacted by Verizon's outage. Apple explains what "SOS" means in a support document:If you see SOS or "SOS only" in the status bar, your device isn't connected to your cellular network, but you can still make emergency calls through other carrier networks. This feature is available in Australia, Canada, and the United States.Verizon is aware of the outage, and it is working on a fix. "We are aware of an issue impacting wireless voice and data services for some customers," said Verizon, in a social media post, shortly after 1 p.m. Eastern Time. "Our engineers are engaged and are working to identify and solve the issue quickly. We understand how important reliable connectivity is and apologize for the inconvenience." We will update this story once the outage is fully resolved. We are aware of an issue impacting wireless voice and data services for some customers. Like millions of other customers, I am impacted by the current Verizon outage. All calls in and out fail, even when calling over Wi-Fi. According to Techradar and other sources, the outage is widespread. Verizon confirmed issue with TechRadar & are working on it. #Verizon #VerizonOutage

Really feels like just telling military to draw up plans to invade an ally should be an impeachable offense regardless of party

During the pandemic, a college friend of mine started a play-reading group over Zoom. I was blown away by Arcadia, which I had not read previously.
I recently read Arcadia during my last semester of coursework, a brilliant read. 🌹

After several nights of leftovers, I made my mom’s traditional turkey casserole tonight, and froze it for a future meal. And we still have some turkey left! #Thanksgivingleftovers

@kaine.senate.gov , please change your vote on the CR. Kicking the can down the road for a promised future discussion/vote didn’t work last time. Pole will die without the healthcare they can no longer afford. (And yes, I know fed workers aren’t being paid—several of my family members among them.)

Another #hat for #ShowMeYourKnits! This is a baby hat I made about 15 years ago. I sent it off to our niece today for their new baby, along with a #babyblanket I started 6 years ago and finally finished.

It’s hat week for #ShowMeYourKnits! The collection of five hats were knit for the local women’s shelter. (I knit a lot more, but I can only upload four photos, and the other ones were all the same except for the color of the yarn.) The three single hats were gifts. #hats #handknit #knitting

Let’s be clear: Donald Trump and Congressional Republicans forced a government shutdown tonight.

Rather than address the health care crisis that they created just earlier this year, they refuse to come to the table and do their jobs.

What happened to the art of the deal?

This week’s #showmeyourknits prompt is “what’s on your needles?” My current projects are the “May I Borrow This Please” shawlette and the “Homestead Tweed Cardigan Vest.” (Photos are not up to date because I am recovering from yesterday’s Covid shot.) #knitting #handknit

We got our Covid vaccines yesterday. (We both have qualifying conditions.) If you are in a state where pharmacists can’t give the vaccine right now, it’s worth checking whether you can get it through a CVS MinuteClinic, as we did. #covidvaccine #covid
