My favorite artifact in the "you don't need AI to do art" discourse is, of course, screenwriter Dan O'Bannon's sketch of the facehugger to explain it to Giger.

Without naming your job, tell me something you say over and over again at work.

"I need your card first, please."
Without naming your job, tell me something you say over and over again at work.

"can you please reboot your laptop for me?"
Without naming your job, tell me something you say over and over again at work.

‘So what does this mean to us?’

Listen, I really can't focus on much of anything right now, so I'm going to watch curling and recharge.

worth noting that the second rich people stopped being afraid of mobs tearing them limb from limb, they stopped building libraries and opera houses and stuff and started ripping the copper wiring out of the walls of society instead

"(Escape) The Piña Colada Song" pisses me all the way off. I swear at the radio before changing the station. Sorry, Rupert Holmes.
Fuck your favourite song. Tell me your least favourite song. The one that makes you die inside the moment you hear the first 3 seconds.

Long Title: Do I Have to Do This All Over Again? (The Monkees)
Deleted a post about “what’s your least favorite song” because the vibes are bad enough already.

Instead: what’s your favorite song that has a long title, say at least 6 words long?

Mine: “Elderly Woman Behind the Counter in a Small Town” (Pearl Jam)

Blog Post: I Wrote Myself a Fairy Tale

Once upon a time, I told myself a story.

I Wrote Myself a Fairy Tale
Almost 30 years ago at my first legit paycheck job, I entertained my coworker’s toddler daughter by telling her a story. I told her to pick five words and I’d make a story out of them. …

I love how the trailer for the new Wuthering Heights movie calls it the greatest love story and my boss's official review of the book is that everyone in it is terrible and she wants the house to burn down with everyone in it.

Anadith Danay Reyes Álvarez died in government custody.

She had sickle cell and congenital heart disease but couldn’t access timely and adequate medical care.

We need to reform immigration detention.

Finally going back to the library today. Building still doesn't have heat (just space heaters and blowers), so we're open shortened hours and working 2 hour shifts.

Guess he got the after dark shift, which will be the coldest? That's right. The baddest bitch in the stacks.

It is very, very important to remember that YOU DID THIS. You, the people, through an organized mass movement of working people, pushed back on fascism and made the government blink.

No politician did this. A few helped, but this happened because of you, and your political actions. KEEP IT UP.
None of these Republicans and most of these Democrats are not all of a sudden “seeing the light on ICE.” They simply understand the worm turning on public opinion and saving face. They will ALL go back to voting for minority brutalization as soon as they can. You can’t keep falling for this.

Do not let the Democrats claim an easy victory here. They are just waiting for an excuse to go back to business as usual, a kinder, gentler ICE that does its evil work quietly where you can’t see but still shatters millions of families. Don’t let them do it. Tell them ABOLISH ICE NOW or get fucked.

Despite the below zero windchill, I cleared out my driveway, the sidewalk, and the approach of my neighbor's driveway with the snowblower.

Not the way I wanted to spend my last day of vacation, but at least I didn't have to shovel it.

I remain absolutely furious that all this shit in Minneapolis started because a barely-literate homeschooled mormon made a video trying to run up in daycare centers trying to find people of Somalian descent doing fraud despite the ringleader (a white woman) being in jail since March. Demonic.
