So far, I've tried to rip three old series from DVD and they all have bad discs in them. "As Time Goes By", "Romeo X Juliet", and "Higurashi When They Cry".

Even the BD of Oshi no Ko S1 had a bad place and it wouldn't finish ripping the first episode.

This timeline sucks.

Something he probably could have had 9 months ago by simply asking nicely to build more bases.
“.. Denmark would give the United States sovereignty over small pockets of Greenlandic land where the United States could build military bases, according to three senior officials ..”

i don't know how you could watch a video of minnesotans strugging to protect their neighbours and entertain an idea like "I hope americans are ready to be hated". If you can't see yourself in their fight, draw strength from it, stand in solidarity, how can you possibly fight fascism anywhere else

Archiving DVDs tonight. Several of the discs in my "As Time Goes By" box set are showing signs of disc rot. First disc failed to rip the initially, but was fine the second try in a different drive. Second disc has obviously cloudy spots, but is halfway through ripping so far.

we're getting all the downsides of cyberpunk (social alienation, ruthless hyper capitalism, digital mass surveillance state) but none of the promised upsides (cheap street food, cool jackets, super drugs that make you really fast and strong before they kill you)

This is the fourth abandoned building in the last 4 or 5 days to burn... This seems suspicious to me. Maybe I'm over thinking it.

The "worst problem you've never heard of" is the leading cause of Black land loss in this country.

Over the years, it's seen Black families stripped of hundreds of billions of dollars in land. It's called "heirs' property."

My fear isn't cancelled elections. It's the ruling party disappearing opposition candidates.
if i want water from the sink, i have to turn on the faucet. if i want to ride my bike, i have to pedal and engage the gears. there is a mechanism. my point is that there is no *mechanism* by which elections can be canceled. it's not about norms, it is about how things work.
