Turns out the reason I haven't been able to access the @chess.com app for the past week (since they added the home screen widgets) is because they've added something that requires an extra level of data tracking

This is my seasonal plea that we all cool it on the grinch a bit. he's fine. that one cartoon was pretty good. he hasn't got the juice to operate on a Santa Claus level not least of all because his main thing is not liking Christmas very much. at least get Scrooge in there to spread it around some.
