The "don't have an extra kid if you can't afford it" brigade get awfully upset when you suggest they don't stay in their £2m house if they can't afford it, don't they?

I see a lot of people who supported Liz Truss’ budget aren’t happy with Rachel Reeves this morning. Perhaps they should sit this one out

Literally!! The right wing papers Hate You Anyway!! Why not give them something to Really Hate You For, and know - at least - people will thank you in ten years time???
Serious howls of outrage in the media this morning at what is a relatively modest Budget from Labour that does nothing more than fiddle around the margins.

It does highlight the missed opportunity. If you’re going to get this reaction anyway, why not at least get it for attempting a big swing?

There it is. Our national broadcaster living in fear of the most openly corrupt US president in American history. This is where the British patriots on the right have got us.
I wish I didn’t have to share this. But the BBC has decided to censor my first Reith Lecture.

They deleted the line in which I describe Donald Trump as “the most openly corrupt president in American history.” /1

MAGA is falling apart. The Republicans are falling apart. Trump is falling apart. They will continue to do terrible (and in some cases irreparable) damage at home and abroad but something has changed. You can feel it

If nothing else, it’s quite telling that the president treats it as a personal attack when some senators remind the armed forces they shouldn’t follow illegal orders.

My “I don’t issue illegal orders” t-shirt is prompting a lot of questions etc.

It is bewildering, disturbing and a stain on America that Trump’s approval rating isn’t in single digits

Having Johnson & Cummings in Downing Street when Covid struck was, just like Brexit, an entirely avoidable disaster caused largely by utterly appalling journalism. And now exactly the same clowns, arses & bigots with bylines are rolling out the red carpet for Farage.

Every time I hear a politician say that an issue is “dividing” this country they always then come down on the side of the right wing view of it. Just once I’d love to hear someone say “this issue is divisive, which is why I’m making the argument that kindness and compassion is important”

The thing I despise is inhumanity. It’s not really a political position, it’s an existential one. But if your political party manoeuvres itself into a place where it practises and promotes inhumanity, I will despise you.

I just don’t see how we can pretend even for a moment that anything involving our federal government is remotely normal when the president is covering up his involvement in a child sex trafficking ring. Like, what are we doing here

Remember when everyone spent a whole weekend worshipping Donald Trump for delivering everlasting peace in the Middle East?

Like everything else with him, he lies about it, takes the credit, then fucks off when it all goes wrong. He does not give a single shit

The Republican president is a pedophile who has doubled my healthcare costs and let scores of violent criminals out of jail. But a Democratic mayor-elect wants to make busses free in a city I don't live in. I have never felt more politically homeless.

Perhaps the BBC could offer Trump one of his beloved deals: they'll apologise for broadcasting sections of his speech, if he apologises for trying to overthrow an election, lying about the result, pressuring election officials, urging a crowd to "fight like hell" & pardoning those who did just that.

I mean, what kind of legal action would this be exactly? Defamation? I would truly love to see it. 'They made it look like I instigated a coup during my very well recorded coup attempt.'

BBC should absolutely make a new documentary about the insurrection showing all the times Trump lied about the election result in precisely the correct context.

And include testimony from his supporters who were adamant they knew exactly what he wanted them to do.

If the BBC aired a documentary about WW2 and selectively edited a Hitler speech where he said Jews are the enemy and enemies must be slaughtered, would anyone be demanding apologies and resignations?

No, because everybody knows the Holocaust happened, and that it was Hitler’s fault

So the oldest person ever to become president keeps falling asleep in his office during public events and there’s no big public discussion on how this is a coverup or how republicans are lying to us about how this government is running?

A great day for the golden rule of political analysis: when the right wins it is a resounding ideological victory that humiliates the left and when the left wins it is a precarious fluke that will surely end up humiliating the left. Conservatives are power’s landlords and the left merely tenants
