one of the distortions of social media is that you see people complaining about financial stress a lot, and you see people boasting about (mostly fake) wealth a lot, but you mostly don't see people talking about their lives making normal, steady progress.
Under Biden I went from a shitty apartment to outright ownership of a single family detached home in a major metro and the excellent economic conditions were a huge part of that.

Concerted effort from party leaders and supportive media got them to come around. By 2023, over half of Republicans were positive.

Democrats will often look at something that doesn’t poll well and think “oh no, better move away from that!” but they’re getting their role backwards. parties influence public opinion. if you’re purely reactive, you’re just letting the GOP frame every debate.
the lesson of the election isn’t “we should give up on trans rights,” it’s that the GOP took an issue that negatively impacted almost no one and made it a headliner. why would it help to surrender on an issue if they can create a grievance from thin air?
