So I totally destroyed my knee in March and haven't been able to run since. I despise going to the gym but I really need something to make my body happy. Does anyone have a recommendation for cheaper exercise equipment that is knee friendly? Bonus if it can help my wife with strength stuff.

As someone married to an ornithologist these are all confirmed
"Scientists determined birds are distant relatives of dinosaurs after uncovering the fossils of several tyrannosaurs shitting on windshields of Honda Civics."

This is a good reminder! I think the best things that happened this semester were

Students preparing a proposal for the school board to build an observatory for a donated telescope.

Continuing the BTC journey

Worst
Fighting for students to be placed in classes where they can succeed.
2025 learning + 2026 reminder for teachers/educators:

We need to tell the good stories, too, about what is happening in our classrooms and schools. To tell them frequently and loudly and meaningfully.

(Because we know no one else is going to at this point.)

Stop.

Read the post below.

Do what it says.

Look at Earth - our home world - from the surface of Mars.

You are a terranaut on that fragile planet.

This moment brought to you courtesy of NASA Science.
Open up this picture fully.

Then look at the surface of Mars.

Then look up to the top right.

Spot Mars' moon Phobos high in the sky.

Then notice the bright spot beside Phobos.

That's Earth.

Call me Tiny Tim, who did not die. Some years ago—never mind how long precisely—having little or no money in my purse, and nothing particular to interest me on shore, I thought I would sail about a little and see the watery part of the world
And Tiny Tim, who did NOT die, where the shadows lie, One Tim to rule them all, One Tim to find them, One Tim to bring them all, and in the darkness, bind them.
And Tiny Tim, who did NOT die, blew up the Death Star.

We finish the day's Christmas Bird Count with a list of 76 species a lot for the Midwest in the winter including 5 owl species. Finished up by having a delicious meal and a fire while listening to modest mouse

All 3 resident owls are calling from our yard this morning. A good start for our Christmas Bird Count

I want to drive a dump truck of cow manure to the Microsoft headquarters and drop it off in the lobby as a thank you.

They didn't ask for it, they didn't want it, but maybe they can figure out how to get rid of it.
Is there a way to get this mind-numbing Co-Pilot shit off Microsoft Word?

We had a western tananger show up at our house in Indiana today! Crazy lost bird, hopefully it finds enough food to get though the cold snap. (And hopefully it stays for the Christmas Bird Count next weekend)

Sometimes I see something that makes me feel like I am going to turn to dust I am so old. I bought this album on one of my first dates after getting sushi with my wife. We rocked out on the hour drive back to the town we lived in from the big city of Morgantown West Virginia.
