Congress, as it is described in any American civics class, doesn't actually exist
Has anyone in Congress announced that they're starting the impeachment process yet?
Yeah, I’m quickly moving towards the “primary everyone” every election until the majority of the party has a 🤬 backbone

Abolish ICE. Defund it entirely.

THREAD. Having just written a book about this and talked to a LOT of Democrats, I can assure you that neither Cory Booker nor the policing industry he’s advertising think that more money for ICE “training” and tech would address any problem that any person of good will has with what ICE is doing.

The more I think about this, the angrier I get. It takes a particularly virulent strain of sociopathy to sit and let hard-working people serve you a meal knowing that you plan to arrest them and send them off for deportation once they're off of work.

Really depraved shit.
A few days ago, Fox News was whining about ICE agents getting heckled at a Mexican restaurant in Minneapolis.

Meanwhile, in the town of Willmar, ICE agents had lunch at a Mexican restaurant, waited until it closed, then confronted and arrested three workers as they left.

Jesus Fucking Christ. Does anyone really not understand by now that tariffs are paid by the consumer?

Trump is literally ranting that he's mad that Denmark and the EU will not give him Greenland, so as punishment, he's going to levy another tax on the American people.

My point is that we don't need to worry about Trump cancelling elections, but his administration can still do a lot of damage that could undermine democracy. Strategies like intimidating people to make them afraid to vote can backfire and make people more determined. But they can also work.

I appreciate @jamellebouie.net's thread and the replies rejecting the fear of Trump cancelling the midterms. As someone who studies authoritarian regimes, though, I would argue that there are many ways to undermine elections without outright cancelling them.
i don't even know why i'm raising this here because i know i'm going to get a hundred replies of "Trump has god powers that will let him do whatever he wants and thus we have no choice but to bend to his will," but for those of you capable of complex thought, these are questions to ask yourself.
