Did you know a "jiffy" is a real unit of time? Physicists define it as the time it takes light to travel a distance of one femtometre, which is a millionth of a millionth of a millimetre. This was my co-author's favourite fact she learned from working on "About Time". Read more in this interview:
About Time by Alom Shaha and Rebecca Struthers

The 25th of November is St Catherine's feast day.

"This isn't about God,
the stained-glass legends of broken wheels, the barrowload
of miracles, or the dinner-plate halo they will nail to your head.

Under the gospel,
the truth of it: woman answers back, ends up dead."

Working on my website. Still not 100% there - but the whole look is more unified and I re-wrote the therapy page which I'm now much happier with.

Not much to say about Trans Day of Remembrance anymore besides “try loving and celebrating us while we are alive”

Today is the Transgender Day of Remembrance. Trans people have literally always been here; every time I see someone sneering "oh but there were no trans people when I was in high school," well. I dated a trans girl in high school, and was close friends with a trans guy.

It's a terrible advertising model. I'm a good therapist but a bad business person. Anyway, I do actually have space for a new client at the moment...

"The 'reduction in enthusiasm' [for climate action] among rich nations didn’t happen by accident.

It’s the product of a deliberate and systematic assault on knowledge by some of the richest people on Earth.

Preventing climate breakdown means protecting ourselves from the storm of lies."
Climate breakdown is driven by a storm of lies. This lying is systemic, funded and coordinated, and operates across almost all media, old and new.
This week's column argues that we cannot fight the climate crisis without also fighting the epistemic crisis.

Dark forces are preventing us fighting the climate crisis – by taking knowledge hostage | George Monbiot
The fundamental problem is this: that most of the means of communication are owned or influenced by the very rich, says Guardian columnist George Monbiot

If the legacy media had reported honestly the scale of the Trans Pride demonstration, they would not now be able to represent the Far Right demonstration as a sign of imminent democratic collapse and civil war.

Labour should be fighting this dangerous reversal of rights, not signing it off.

I wrote to the Women and Equalities Minister last week urging her to reject guidance like this.

Forthcoming statutory guidance could have a profound impact on trans people's lives.

I've written to the Women and Equalities Minister to urge her to reject anything that undermines trans people's rights, inclusion, privacy or safety, and for Parliament to have proper oversight.

BREAKING 🚨

The updated EHRC Code of Practice has now been sent to the Government. The Code is just as bad as we feared.

It would mean a mandatory trans bathroom ban, and trans people's exclusion from public life. The impact would be devastating.

But politicians still have time to stop this.
