The fact that most transit riders are used to getting treated like dirt gets treated as the status quo rather than a huge opportunity for public policy gains that could come from very modest changes.

Saying your small metro should built car shit until it turns into Bakersfield is not being “pro-rural,” it’s actually saying it should build all the excess of urban areas with none of the benefits until it crumples under its own weight

Small metros face a choice: fill out their geography with low-density car-dependent infrastructure until they become endless Bakersfield-style sprawl, or properly urbanize in a more compact, efficient footprint that gives people more mobility and housing choices.

I saw a Centro employee at a TNT meeting get yelled at because of this misconception.
The equity case for infrequent buses at low fares only makes sense if you believe low income people’s time has no value or that they don’t value their time.
Every transit professional knows this, but equity

Was recently told to essentially “Shut up and stick to bike advocacy” after a post supporting the trans community.
1. GTFO
2. My voice is not some singular thing - bike advocacy is a small part of my makeup-you don’t like me or my position on things refer to point 1

Trump's aggressive ICE raids met pushback this week from Syracuse’s underground railroad.

Activists, politicians and strangers collaborated to keep one Syracuse husband from the clutches of ICE.

I just memorized "SPLARDT" one time years ago.
@fernkhahn.com did you know that the guy who created the Queens street grid got his friend to come up with a jingle for it?

Syracuse used to celebrate October 1 as the anniversary of Jerry Henry's rescue from slave catchers. It feels more relevant this year. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jerry_R...

The Orange Lot bus is a bad scene. Troopers have to move cones and stop cars every time a bus wants to get through.

GPS shows three buses are going between the State Fair and the mall, and two to the downtown hub. Could be worse but could be a lot better.

Important in itself, especially for those of us living in New York. But it’s more broadly important as a demonstration of the power of noncompliance as a response to unlawful commands.

I knew her. This happened in my town and I knew her. I was half an hour up the road.
I'm sad to share that the trans vet that took her life outside the VA last week was apparently Elisa Rae Shupe.

She's someone many of us know - she was responsible for the mass email leak that let us know how the ADF, Heritage, etc planned to enact trans eradication we see today.

RIP Elisa.

It’s not a weird turn, it’s a logical response to police failing over & over again to be effective & reliable partners on traffic safety initiatives. At some point advocates had to stop wasting time trying to shift the police culture & instead focus elsewhere.
🚨 In @theatlantic.com today, I argue the safe streets movement has taken a weird turn. Under the banner Vision Zero, not only is there just one acceptable solution—costly road redesign—but reformers now dismiss the importance of enforcement. Expedient, but deadly.
