Once again, it is bizarre how the media seems to think that only Democrats have agency.
Note the framing here:

It’s “Democrats have refused to fund” DHS and not “Republicans refused to prohibit face masks” or “the two parties could not agree on how to reform the agency.”

I prefer it when ‘Traitors’ describes the TV program, not the people potentially electing the next government.
2024 Reform UK voters are also less likely to describe themselves as anti-Russia (48%) than other voters (66-79%)

What is worst of all is that so many affecting to this “Doing nothing about attacks on you is pure, any steps towards defending yourself are rampant militarism, only the UN is sacred” is that in the next breath they’ll look at the UN being vetoed to irrelevance on Gaza and demand someone act now.

It doesn’t really matter *why* Trump’s desire to destabilise & divide Europe precisely mirrors Vladimir Putin’s - whether kompromat, self-interest, naked bigotry or something else l. What matters is that Europe treats both regimes like the enemies of progress & democracy they so clearly are.

Just checking, it's now ok to flee your homeland, because you're afraid for your safety, and seek refuge in another Country?

Glad we've cleared that up. Let's hear no more about immigration and refugees then.

Starmer is right. Priti Patel's quote about surrendering to the EU shows the Tories - like Reform and the Greens - cannot be trusted with the UK's defence and security. Unwittingly, I am sure (Tories and Greens), they would do Putin's work for him. Reform would do it knowingly and happily.

You may laugh, but the Macbeths are a much better role model for a marriage than Romeo and Juliet. They discuss their problems (killing the king of Scotland), share their hobbies (killing the king of Scotland), and resolve their conflicts (by killing the king of Scotland).

It’s a real missed opportunity that we don’t have Merz, Macron, and Starmer together on stage here in Munich. All doing their own thing at different times.

That should tell those European security folk who just gave Rubio a standing ovation precisely where the Trump regime‘s priorities lie: bolstering the floundering election campaign of a Putinist kleptocrat dedicated to undermining the EU from the inside.

There is also this real urge in some quarters to see Marco Rubio as some sort of moderating influence in the Trump administration. A sort of cross between wishful thinking and a lingering regard for the kind of man who looks like he has a preference for what bourbon goes in his Old Fashioned.

Europe desperately wants the US to be Normal Again so it doesn’t actually have to engage with any of the hard work (and spending) that engaging with reality actually involves.

So if Rubio gives a speech with ~better vibes~ it gets lapped up, even if it’s meaningless on substance.
Jesus Christ, a standing ovation? For an apologist for a regime which is buying warehouses to build concentration camps and murdering protesters on the street?

The only comment I have on the Rubio speech is that I don’t want to spend too much time on the Rubio speech.
Nothing is changing with regards to US policy. We don’t need to do a line-by-line analysis.
