The Roblox CEO being so hyped about Polymarket doesn't fill me with confidence.

This is quite an interview.

Had to look up 'piss' in the Guardian styleguide (it's not there).

Just another day reporting on Elon.

Interesting, eSafety got the classification board to classify the Charlie Kirk assassination video as refused classification (previously they usually self-assess before sending take down requests). I guess wanting to put themselves on stronger footing.

Meta wouldn't tell me how they know which accounts are under 16 (assuming behavioural signals, age of account etc) because they don't want teens trying to get around the ban. www.theguardian.com/australia-ne...
Meta starts notifying Australian teenagers of account shutdowns as social media ban looms
Facebook and Instagram users under 16 will be sent email, SMS and in-app messages in anticipation of 10 December, when ban will begin

Scout* barely realised that something round and hard, with smoke coming from it, had landed in front of them before it exploded.

Pain suddenly shot through their leg and arm. Scout fell to their knees, before someone nearby helped them rush out of the area.

Police detonated a ‘stinger’ grenade at a Melbourne protest. Now two activists may sue over their injuries
Grenades filled with rubber pellets and other so-called ‘less lethal’ munitions have been increasingly deployed, despite being linked to serious injuries and even deaths

I spent 8 months waiting for an FOI from the NDIA on how they're using AI.

This is what I found.

Machine learning is used in developing draft plans for participants.

Robodebt concerns loom large over the Copilot trial, but staff reported favourably on it.

Exclusive: NDIA defines machine learning as a subset of AI that uses algorithms to learn from data and make decisions or predictions

Between asbestos in colourful sand toys for children and the Wiggles swallowing hazard button battery headband, it has been a big week for the ACCC. www.accc.gov.au/media-releas...
Customers warned of recalled children’s sand due to asbestos risks
The ACCC has published a recall notice over children’s sand products that may contain asbestos and were sold at various retailers including Officeworks.

Giving Copilot the position of cabinet secretary so every Copilot prompt is cabinet-in-confidence
In an Australia first, I used FOI to get the AI chat logs of Australia's top national security bureaucrat.

They show how he used Microsoft Copilot to ghostwrite speeches and messages to colleagues.

This comes as the government looks to push AI use in the public service.
