1. Even Justice ACB seemed alarmed at the implications of anti-trans arguments being used to discriminate against women more broadly during SCOTUS hearings on trans sports.

Experts say not to read too far into it, court likely to overturn rights.

Even Barrett Seemed Alarmed by the Implications of Anti-Trans Arguments at SCOTUS
Justice Amy Coney Barrett, who penned what might be the most virulently anti-trans Supreme Court document in history, had “concerns” about how Hecox and BPJ might impact cisgender women.

this is why I ignore people who say "just protest the right way!"

the issue isn't the method of protest; it's that they're protesting at all.
Violently absurd.

Unbelievable. 3 small children were hospitalized after ICE deployed tear gas and flash bangs on nearby protesters. ICE is totally out of control and Congress must immediately rein them in. 1/2

Republicans are lying about what we can all clearly see in the video of Jonathan Ross murdering Renee Nicole Good because that is their strategy for everything.

Force the debate into whether or not obvious facts are real and suck up time away from debating appropriate action.

Only took them a full fucking year to do it
damn -- CNN put together a video of Kristi Noem claiming ICE officers are "highly trained and skilled" and "gifted" alongside to a clip of them beating someone nearly to death in Minneapolis

Yes, and see @jessicacalarco.com's point about how, when the current administration shifts risk to moms, it pushes them to be reactive and "busy":

bsky.app/profile/jess...
Being a stay at home mom also means you are often 1) plugged into local community in a way most folks aren't (through your kid's school/sports) and 2) around in the hours ICE thinks they can get up to shit because everyone is at work
It sounds like being a stay-at-home mom is now a superpower, because you don’t have an employer, you have a husband. Employers don’t have to pay alimony or negotiate custody of their kids if they fire you for bullshit reasons.

"Worse than Bush after Katrina" is a polling benchmark that I thought that partisan polarization had made impossible
Pollster: 58% of Americans say Trump's second term has been a failure. A year into term number two, Trump's numbers look worse than any other president. Trump is even worse than George W. Bush after Katrina and a long period in the Iraq War. This is really, really bad.

Last night's Bad Art For Good event was *incredible*.

We had ~100p people come out to connect with each other, commiserate over the times we're living through, and make ART!

We folded zines, we distributed ice whistles, we ate a LOT of cupcakes, 10/10, would host events in LA again.

A lot of government, especially at the federal level, is stopping bad things from happening. It is hard to explain its value when the bad thing does not happen. Take it away, and broader societal risks increase, but the effects may take a while to emerge, and will be contested by those cutting govt.
I generally defend journalism On Here, and will keep doing it. But one genuine failure of the news media is (as @chrislhayes.bsky.social put it) they don’t cover the planes that land. The workings of the Govt only get covered when they fail via incompetence or corruption.
