In the wake of this tragic election, I’m remembering how I found comfort years ago in Janine Benyus’ observation that “we are a young species.” Maybe we’ll make it, maybe not..
But I’m re-watching her beautiful short video about #Biomimicry anyway and finding some comfort.

The Boston Globe identified the companies in Massachusetts that employ the most SNAP recipients. A key stat: "In Massachusetts, 74% of working-age recipients of the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program are employed, half of them full-time."

This plus equity of wages. You aren't sitting next to someone who does the same job but earns more, unless they have seniority. Unions are great levelers for women and minority workers. And you don't have to individually beg for a pay raise, the unions take care of the negotiations

There are specific reasons Trumpists want war on Venezuela, but there‘s a generic one: they crave power to make war on anyone, any time, for completely fabricated reasons, and then to use the guise of war to increase violence and repression everywhere, including home.

They are lawless bestial scum.

A running theme of Trump II is cautious, level-headed, mainstream, career professional experts sounding existential alarms about how we aren't panicking nearly enough.
I know you already know, but for other folks who don't, Goldsmith was previously head of OLC, is a genuinely brilliant mind on executive authority and separation of powers, and is usually very cautious about making claims this unqualified and direct. That he is saying it so starkly is v significant

In case you’re wondering why Pete Hegseth is freaking out about a congressional video reminding the military not to participate in illegal orders:
To put a finer point on this whole thing: "Two people with direct knowledge of the operation" — presumably uniformed military leaders — are accusing the U.S. Secretary of Defense of personally ordering specific war crimes. That's a historic accusation.
Textbook war crime/extrajudicial killing

"Two survivors were clinging to the smoldering wreck. The Special Operations commander overseeing the Sept. 2 attack ... ordered a second strike to comply with Hegseth’s instructions."

Imagine if the Mexican govt blew up US fishing boats merely because they suspected them of smuggling guns into country. The US would go to war. Trump thinks he’s allowed to do anything he wants to other countries, but they must not dare to even think of doing the same to the US. That’s imperialism!
Ask Republicans if it would be OK for the Mexican military to blow up a US fishing boat because they believed it was smuggling deadly guns into Mexico and offered zero evidence. “It’s a ‘river of iron’ that has slaughtered hundreds of thousands!”
Would that be acceptable to them? If not, WHY not?
Awful: Sen Tim Kaine reached out to numerous GOP Senators to ask them to join his letter laying out basic questions for Trump about drug boat bombing, Senate staffer tells me. Zero Rs agreed.
