You cannot overstate how startling it is to see a politician just say the thing with clarity and poise. No fearful hemming. No overwrought qualifying down til it’s meaningless. No lingering sense that there is a loyalty to a donor class or an ideology of stasis that they’d never admit to.

One of my favorite parts of having the hockey game on is when they cut into the middle of the action so some dirt bag can tell me I "still have time" to gamble on tonight's game. JFC, the damage gambling is doing to sports. They should've left everything in the hands of the mafia where it belongs.

I don't think we fully understand what we're losing if public television goes away. For example, do you know which station broke Monty Python into the US in the 70s? KERA Dallas. That's the station I grew up with as a lonely kid in Wichita Falls. Invaluable.
