The absolute state of the BBC news just now - which seems determined to drag the government down over the budget.

Where was all this attention to minute detail and concern for absolute accuracy when the Tories were lying their way through their chaotic reign for 14 years? It's frankly absurd.

Science discarded,
The art of critical thinking flayed,
While fools weave
Their insubstantial dreams,
Brittle as new ICE,
Ever eager to please
The orange waste on the throne,
That demands only the dullness
Of unremarkable subservience.

Given Tory Badenoch's penchant for referring to individual US state MOU'S as "Trade Agreements" with the UK when she was a trade minister, while knowing full well states cannot have international trade agreements... she should be quiet about misleading the public.

The UK, where the day after a decision to take half a million children out of poverty, the media & political world has been full of sneering at those same children & their families, labelling them as ‘Benefits Street’, while the same people are moaning about a tax on £2m mansions. Shameful stuff.

Whole issue - at least electorally and rhetorically - is such a moving target. Does make you wonder what the anti-migration folk will focus on next if, by some miracle of miracles, a UK government were ever to actually 'Stop the Boats'.

It's almost like much of the mainstream media and right wing press has an agenda, isn't it.
New net migration figures at 930am.

Net migration fell half a million to 344,000 in 2024 from 848k in 2023

56% of people think it went up last year
17% think stayed the same
14% think it went down

2025 figure to be lower again
16% expect that
38% think it will be up
31% about the same

It's interesting, but I don't think it properly grapples with what Gill did. Effectively, it's saying he was a good apple who inexplicably turned bad, as if this, and the particular form it took, had nothing whatsoever to do with the parties he belonged to or anyone else in them. 1/2
An interesting piece and the first one to properly grapple with what Nathan Gill did by a figure from within Reform

They wanted Johnson. (And what a disaster that was for us).
Now they want Farage. (Would be an off the scale catastrophe for the country).

If the grouse shooting industry are to be believed, Susie probably stamped her own chicks to death before turning the gun on herself.

Oh well. By a happy coincidence, less hen harriers means more red grouse for the toffs to shoot.

Hen Harrier ‘Susie’, whose chicks were stamped to death in 2022, has been found dead on a North Pennines grouse moor with gunshot injuries
If ever there was an example demonstrating the high level of persecution faced by Hen Harriers on UK grouse moors, the lack of consequences for the offenders, and the lack of justice for the victim…

3. Kids put tuppence in slot machines in the hope of getting rich.
4. Farage probably has a gambling industry donor.
