Uber and Lyft are asset-light businesses, which means they don't have any financial incentive to limit fleet size.

If you own your fleet, you have to utilize it efficiently or lose money. If you don't your only incentive is to lower wait time by constantly trying to grow your supply side.
Remember all the hype about how Uber and Lyft would allow people to live car-free?

Well, it turns out ridehail has no discernible impact on car ownership at all.

"Tzefardea Tzedek" (Frog of Righteousness)

As soon as the Portland Frog became a meme, Jewish social media blew up with jokes about the 2nd Passover plague - tzefarde'a (frogs) - and the Rabbinical commentary around it. I knew I had to make a calligraphy piece encompassing all of it. (more in alt.)

I love that this is literally just

we realized we weren't connecting with Black people so we tried talking to more Black people and Black people like us much better now
"Black organizers had noticed gaps in the campaign’s strategy for reaching Black voters. To address them, they led canvasses in working-class Black neighborhoods...By early October, Mamdani had taken a commanding lead over Cuomo among Black voters"

Glad @mspairport.bsky.social is refraining from forcing me to watch more videos of this ghoul at TSA.
MSP Airport has joined a growing list of airports declining to show a new video to travelers in which Kristi Noem blames Democrats for the federal government shutdown and flight delays.
Some U.S. airports decline to show Kristi Noem video blaming Democrats for government shutdown, including MSP
Phoenix, Houston, Seattle and several other airports are eschewing the video from the Department of Homeland Security secretary, too.

If you’re a business owner in Uptown, the mayor will grovel for you. If you’re on the West Bank, tough shit, the mayor’s supporters don’t go there. Anyway, if this story doesn’t win an award we should stop giving them out.
Among the details in Seth A. Richardson's excellent, heartbreaking new Racket piece on the death of Palmer's Bar: owner Sarah Dwyer wrote to Mayor Jacob Frey twice to ask for more enforcement of city code to help clean up the neighborhood. Neither letter even received a reply. #DontRankFrey

As big as the Mamdani win is, Landers ascent is in some ways even more significant for the national Democratic Party.

Most Dem electeds know that they don't have what Zohran has. But most can at least imagine themselves as a Lander.
NYC Comptroller Brad Lander: "I don't think the line for the [Democratic] party right now is between progressives and moderates; I think it's between fighters and folders."
