NONE OF THIS IS REFORM. CBP's lawful jurisdiction is 100 miles from border + ports already. Warrants required for arrests already. So tired of Dems not having plans. Here's a proposal: Rescind $75 billion ya'all gave them last yr when you didn't fight. No future funding. + they must follow the law.
We should not fund DHS without serious reform. We could return CBP to border. We could require warrants for immigration arrests. We could beef up training and require identification.
The list of possible reforms is long. What's unacceptable is the current lawless status quo.

One reason I believe Walz and Frey have been useless is that if they gave the order to the police or national guard to protect residents against ICE, they would not follow it because they support ICE and this administration. At that point, they would lose the legitimacy of their elected position.

I don't know who else needs to hear this besides @mayorbowser.bsky.social, but overpolicing and intimidation have, at best, a temporary impact on crime. They exacerbate rather than address root causes.

You know what's crazy? There have been no op-eds or editorial statements in major newspapers this year calling on Trump to resign. None calling for his impeachment. None asking if he's medically fit to be in office. Not one in any major newspaper all year.

Going into CVS and seeing that $4 soap packs and $3 tweezers are now under lock and key makes me want to abandon them altogether for someone who doesn't treat every customer like a shoplifting threat.
