Ha, this Polish saying has already been assimilated into English enough to end up in Cambridge Dictionary, first English-language dictionary other than Wiktionary to include it.

It's become popular in English in the last few years, starting mostly with its use in Orange Is the New Black in 2017

This year's "ofrenda" (altar to the dead) at our home, dedicated to our parents. Since we couldn't find #Mexican "pan de muerto" (bread of the dead) in #Vienna, we substituted it with a traditional Austrian " #Allerheiligenstriezel "or "All Saint's braid".

This #MosaicMonday we bear witness to the gruelling stakes of the arena where death was always a possibility.
The Gladiator Mosaic is a famous set of five large mosaics of gladiators and venators and two smaller ones. The mosaics are dated to the first half of the 4th century CE. In the centre of the action a secutor seems poised to offer the downed retiarius a final blow but the retiarius named Astius also carries the sign of death, so perhaps one more blow is unnecessary.
