This year's "ofrenda" (altar to the dead) at our home, dedicated to our parents. Since we couldn't find #Mexican "pan de muerto" (bread of the dead) in #Vienna, we substituted it with a traditional Austrian " #Allerheiligenstriezel "or "All Saint's braid".

This #MosaicMonday we bear witness to the gruelling stakes of the arena where death was always a possibility.

The Gladiator Mosaic is a famous set of five large mosaics of gladiators and venators and two smaller ones. The mosaics are dated to the first half of the 4th century CE. In the centre of the action a secutor seems poised to offer the downed retiarius a final blow but the retiarius named Astius also carries the sign of death, so perhaps one more blow is unnecessary.

We already have 2025 WOTY action. 'Das crazy' was voted the 2025 German Youth Word of the Year. It beat 'goonen' and 'checkst du,' demonstrating the global impact of English in internet slang. 'Das crazy' is often used when someone doesn't know what to say, inter alia.

The sentences below are 100% correct. The conjugated verbs “fueres”, “fuere” and “vieres” are examples of the Future #subjunctive tense. It has almost disappeared in modern Spanish, although it can still be found in very formal texts. Non-natives do not need to master it.

Two examples of Spanish Future Subjunctive, a verbal tense that is uncommon but used in very formal language.

The tiny #teporingo (Romerolagus diazi), zacatuche or volcano rabbit is endemic to the slopes of four volcanoes in Central #Mexico. It normally lives above 2,800 mts. Unfortunately the teporingo is an endangered species due to overgrazing and fragmentation of its habitat.
