Prediction: The Christmas 2026 episode of #doctorwho will feature some sort of 'staggered-regeneration' where the Doctor tries out a bunch of bodies that match people he's met (pending past-Who actor availability), before settling on his proper 16th regeneration.

As someone who has lived my whole adult life in cities deemed “dangerous”—NYC, NOLA, and SF—I think a lot about how dense cities require patience, calm, and tolerance in the midst of social difference, which are of course exactly the civic virtues that the right resents being told to cultivate.

Whenever a nut advocates for gun rights to protect against government tyranny, respond with something like “Too right – and we should start with the most oppressed.  When we arm every blackfella in the country, we’ll see a big drop in deaths in custody.” #auspol

Reasons the Coalition should go all in on climate change and energy transition – it’s the only way to win back urban seats, plus it is a traditional conservative value to prioritise nature and the long term.  Reasons it isn’t – the greedy rich want more money now.

Climate change issues aside, I'm stunned that the ALP didn't link the North West Shelf approval to the gas industry's social license and/or their paying more tax. Labour is usually smart enough to take opportunities for reform when it sees them. #auspol

The Treasurer can talk about 'productivity', but only for a year. Voters don't care about productivity. Productivity makes no visible difference to their lives. There's no way to connect it to our everyday experience. Productivity is just a policy pundit bubble thing. #auspol
