The actual story is that a family of American citizens trying to evacuate from a neighborhood that ICE had made unsafe, and then ICE tossed munitions into the car, causing three kids to be hospitalized and a six month old to stop breathing. DHS called the family “radical agitators”

I get that Newsom is generating a lot of noise, which looks exciting. But consider two things: one, he's running against an empty chair at the moment; and two, he's leaving just a shit-ton of party favors laying around for whoever will be doing anti-Gavin campaign ads.
Only 15 days in and we have a strong contender for most embarrassing headline of the year.
