Canadian researchers should be aware the there is a motion before the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Science and Research to force Tricouncils to hand over disaggregated peer review data on all applications:
Applicant names, profiles, demographics
Reviewers names, profiles, comments, and scores

The environmental and social costs of AI are not incidental downsides of the technology, issues to be figured out and mitigated for as the industry develops.

Rather, they are *inherent* in it. You cannot have generative AI without the environmental and social costs. They're one and the same.

🚨 This is inexplicable news to share. If in Alberta and you want flu and covid shots for NEXT year (2026-2027), you have only until December 15 of THIS year to order them.
