TBH Menard's is pretty awesome. Stop in for lumber and a bottle of Sprecher root beer, leave with an off-brand phone charger and the weirdest junk food you've ever seen
Have never been to Minnesota in my life but I grew up with MST3K playing on a loop on my computer and that does a weird thing to your brain where you’re like “why do I know what Menards is?”

I cannot fathom the trauma being inflicted here, both to children and to parents. This is the absolute worst that humankind is capable of.

Yes, and: many white people are unable to see the people who fought against past evil as Americans. The Civil Rights movement was a group of Americans fighting for what's right! Teaching about Jim Crow only teaches children to "hate America" if one doesn't consider Black people part of America.
my Blackest opinion is that the presumption of conflict between "America has a long and deeply rooted history of violence" and "we can and should fight against today's version of that, as did those who came before us" is less a philosophical debate about how to treat the past and more a skill issue

Seems unfair that you only get to use the bouncy slide to get off a plane when things have gone wrong. The bouncy slide should be a treat they give to the best passengers who did the flight correctly.

MLK was only 39 when he was killed. Growing up, I thought that was old. But I’m 43 now and I’m stunned by the burden he shouldered at such a young age. I’m also a lot more aware of how hard it is, at any age, to carry the hopes and dreams of an oppressed people on your shoulders, as so many do.

"Super Freak" is an extremely funny song if you read it as the most vanilla guy in the world thinking a woman is a sexual deviant for, like, occasionally wanting to be on top

In Chicago, the clear answer is HOT DOUG'S. Boutique sausages with creative topping combinations. Doug himself always manned the register. I'd always bring out-of-towners and we'd order a variety and share. Always a long line but a table would inevitably open up right when you were ready to sit.

Artists, I think we're all too comfortable sharing our imposter syndrome.

I would love to see you step out of your comfort zone and confidently state what you think you're actually really good at.

No self deprecation, just what you think you're the strongest at

The problem with all of these frame-by-frame parsings of the various videos of Renee Good's murder is that it implies that there is some set of circumstances in which it would be OKAY to shoot the driver of a car in the face three times.

These tacos have been a stealth archive favorite for over 15 years now -- they seem so simple but they hit all the perfect weeknight dinner notes with a quick black bean filling, easy slaw, and pan-crisped taco shell we should never be deprived of. Dinner? Sorted.
