Pet fees are straight extortion at an apt building where you're also required to put down a security dep for a month's rent. Likewise, charging $150 so I can fly a small cat, who goes in the space beneath the seat that my bag would already go, when I ALSO have to now pay $50 for a checked bag is 🔫

I am 39 and I had my first colonoscopy about four years ago. They found a precancerous polyp. I knew I had family history so I asked to add the procedure to my endoscopy. I can’t imagine if I’d waited nearly 10 years. My insurance covered it but we really need to rethink the age recs.
Chadwick Boseman and James van der Beek both died in their 40s of an illness that's treatable if a colonoscopy catches it but almost no insurer covers them for people under 45, this is what Engels meant by "social murder"

one of the greatest human triumphs of my lifetime is the relentless, unceasing, heroic effort by DECADES' worth of doctors and scientists to find a cure for a disease much of the world didn't take seriously for years because it predominantly affected a community they thought kinda deserved it
Just because good news is worth celebrating:

There is now a Prep medication that is an *every six month* injection.

HIV has, effectively, a vaccination.

Once again, this is HIGHLY illegal and also highly unusual.
‘One officer told me that I "had no chance of returning to Minnesota" and that "the best thing for (me] is self-deportation." …
She offered me $2600 to self-deport.
I refused.
I wanted to talk to my attorney.
They didn't tell me the judge had already ordered my release and return to Minnesota.’

A hill that I will die on is that the Falcon and the Winter Soldier show was a straight up character assassination of both Bucky and Sam, and that it failed at every moral argument it tried to make.

Literally the first thing I knew about crypto right at the very beginning was that its main use was black market goods of all kinds. It’s why I refused to buy it.
this is literally the critique of crypto that was offered when it was launched, so please, fuck off into the sun

This is a clear violation of the 4th amendment. You cannot - CANNOT - force a person to allow law enforcement into their home for search and seizure without a judicial warrant that has valid cause.
Mike Johnson speaks out against the use of judicial warrants in immigration cases:

"Imagine if we had to go through the process of getting a judicial warrant"

If you are a millennial, have your doctor check your immunity at your next check up! Even if you were immunized as a child, you may no longer be. I was ok on measles, but had to redo my MMR for mumps and rubella AND hep A and B. My parents are doctors, I got all the recced shots as a child.
Because I'm talking about measles. It is also A VERY VERY VERY CONTAGIOUS VIRUS. If someone is in a room and has measles and then leaves that room and you enter that room within TWO HOURS (depending on humidity) you can get measles.

And people are contagious for four days before the rash appears.
::taps mic::

beyond being an absolutely miserable illness, measles can cause immune amnesia. It wipes out your immune systems memory of how to fight every infection, every vaccine you've ever had.

Devastating news
We’re crushed to hear that Catherine O’Hara has left us. Horror fans know her work in BEETLEJUICE and THE NIGHTMARE BEFORE CHRISTMAS (as well as a memorable appearance in TALES FROM THE CRYPT), but her body of creativity beyond genre is an epic one. Our condolences to all who loved her.

my only notes to people under 30: your 30s aren't for ditching fandom, they're for re-evaluating all the "cringe" stuff you liked as a teenager through the lens of someone who can appreciate it fully, going, "that owned, actually," and becoming even more unhinged about it. please look forward to it.

The only way that I can think of is for affected victim's families to sue Fox News and other republican channels for slander/defamation. They should get hit hard with lawsuits every single time they do this. It has to be too expensive to keep doing, or they will keep doing it.
People are viewing this from inside of personal relationships which makes sense because I mentioned people in my life, but I’m intended to ask if there are ways to weaken filter bubbles societally.

You should NOT be using chatgpt for this stuff but I genuinely do not trust that admissions committees will get this right every time. Nobody would know it bc of how the process works, but I can absolutely see them accusing people of using it who didn't, like ppl who assume an em-dash means llm.
I have some more bad news.

If an admissions committee even suspects you used ChatGPT for your application letter, they'll almost certainly decide not to waste a precious admissions spot on you.

Instead they'll give it to, you know, someone who actually likes to write and knows how to do it.
I have some bad news. One, if you need to use ChatGPT for your graduate application letter, you are not ready for graduate school.

Two, no, not "everyone is doing it" and those who don't do it aren't "losing out." ChatGPT is not an advantage.
