People keep saying that this is The 51st, but with respect, I don't think it is. The 51st has (admirably) positioned itself as an outlet to give voice to underserved communities. But the city needs, like, a sports page, an arts page
Spitballing/bargaining stage of grief: A “Washington Banner” outlet, spun off the successful Baltimore Banner and taking advantage of its backend, built out of laid off Washington Post Metro and Sports staffers and funded via a mixed nonprofit and subscription model…

When I was a dirt-poor kid of 19 or so, struggling to get essentials while in college, I still paid 25 cents every few days to get the Washington Post. As a value prop, it was a great bargain for the time I got to enjoy it. Bezos is destroying that today.

HOW TO SUCCEED AS A >>LOCAL<< NEWSPAPER:

Step 1: Shut down sports coverage
Step 2: Watch remaining subscribers disappear
Step 3: Profit?

I pledged in part because I’ve gotten so much joy from their riffs on free streaming, it’s great to toss them some loot this way and by being a Best Friend.

There have not, String, been too many 40-degree days.
If Stringer Bell had lived to see this winter he might have reconsidered his position on 40 degree days

This shows that 30% of registered republican will do literally anything he wants. Nuke the moon? Move permanently underground? Kill every third person for the lulz? Anything.
it's more or less impossible to find issues that poll this badly and he's decided to make it a major, public priority www.cbsnews.com/news/ice-tru...

State has to re-issue travel warnings, even if they haven’t changed. This always ends up happening.
The crackdowns are intensifying. The Maduro regime remains in power, with Delcy Rodríguez in command. This was never about democracy or protecting the people of Venezuela. They continue to live in danger and fear while Trump cuts deals with the regime to seize their oil.

a type of content that makes me want to launch myself into space and is huge part of why everything is so bad: TikToker goes down a “rabbit hole,” makes 9-minute video. The “rabbit hole” was she found an Eater article. The Eater journalist did all the work: www.tiktok.com/t/ZTruBS8cp/
allow me to take you on a journey where, once again, we learn we have no idea what’s in our food. at least we know corporations are pure of heart so I’m sure it’s fine🫶🏼🤡

It's not a foolproof plan but every political debate from now on should be a Normal Guy competition. Ask them to describe grocery shopping in detail. Talk about what it's like to have a friend
