Counting down the days to KARLA'S CHOICE by @harkaway.bsky.social, turned up these old snaps from Karla's desk at Moscow Centre. Looking forward to seeing what he was up to in the years before Tinker Tailor.
Legend.
I'm old enough to remember when CBS News and journalists like Edward R. Murrow held power to account, instead of capitulating to it.

Very pleased with this little Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy MOC, replacing the crap Disney inserts included in the TV set with one of George Smiley in the Circus SCIF. cc @realjohnlecarre.bsky.social bcc @nickharkaway.com ❤️

I mean yeah it’s an authoritarian takeover but can we take some comfort in the fact that the people doing it are INSANELY stupid?

Have you ever seen this Japanese copy of Tinker Tailor, @nickharkaway.com ? Just got hold of it, isn't it lovely?

Really grateful that the @greatesttrek.com pod went on a Battlestar Galactica sidequest recently, while Trek was on hiatus. It's been such a joy watching BSG again, for the first time in 15+ years, and I wouldn't have come back to it without Ben and Adam. Thanks, from a loyal and long-time FoD.

Was scrolling too quickly and my pre-caffeinated brain saw this @pivotpod.bsky.social caption as THE QUEST FOR KARLA. My tour of @realjohnlecarre.bsky.social 's London is so nigh that I'm seeing little Smileys everywhere. Cannot wait to get across the pond. And possibly just stay there.

I hope to walk @realjohnlecarre.bsky.social 's London next week. I hope to see the Tradecraft exhibit in Oxford. I hope to attend the opening night of The Spy Who Came In From the Cold. But we live in a tin pot dictatorship run by idiots, monsters, fascists, racists, and ghouls. So...who knows.

What a sweet little nugget. Just needs a thousand kisses on that head. An hour.

I do, but shan't spoil it.

It's THE SPY WHO CAME IN FROM THE COLD. It's that one. The one that made le Carré a household name, the OG, the book Graham Greene called the greatest spy story ever told.
The first line of this month's book... do you know which Smiley it is?

The Senate is still meeting and holding votes as normal despite the shutdown.

The House has not held a vote in a month and a half now solely because Mike Johnson wants to prevent the release of the Epstein Files.

Added this Time magazine to the Musée du Cirque; a wonderful @realjohnlecarre.bsky.social cover story. Includes possibly the silliest photo of le Carré I've ever seen (though delightful all the same) and redeems itself with a lovely family photo including Jane and @nickharkaway.com. #tradecraft
