Gmail keeps warning me that I'm almost out of space and I must either delete a lot of items (which they intentionally make as difficult as possible) or sign up for their subscription model, but the jokes on them because not being able to receive emails anymore sounds great to me.

Coffee thoughts:

Ireland is a polity where you can go and visit a Minister in a constituency office on a weekend to ask for help filling in a form.

The distance to/from officeholders is effectively zero.

But the distance for most people from *power* can be (invisible to them) huge.

Well coloured me shocked that the self promoting tech-bronomy, grifty, presidential wannabe, with zero history of community/charitable/political work, was at an event with all the Yanky Tan right wing mouth pieces of trash you could imagine.
Why is every newspaper/media outlet/journalist in Ireland afraid to use the words "right wing" or "bigot" when talking about right wing bigots.

We didn't beat back the Brits and the Church just to willingly submit to a new overlord in the form of deity known as "The economy". The economy is a fickle God who doesn't give a shit about you.
Serve your community above all else and rebel against the weird zealots who worship the economy.

I don't know what it's going to take to break us from the depraved notion that an individual or a community's worth is exclusively measured by how well they've served the economy. It's cultish behaviour. We're literally willing to sacrifice humans if we think it will please the economy #spéirgorm

"taxpayers" didn't "pay for" a global military project. the United States government spent those systems into existence. The use of "taxpayers" is a rhetorical move to turn a question of public finance into household dynamics. it's garbage, you never have to buy it.

The implications for removing online anonymity & tracking people's online activity are profoundly serious. Article 8 of the ECHR establishes that EU citizens have a right to privacy from overreaching government monitoring and tracking.

Online ID verification is a fundamental threat to this right.
