Make a habit of thanking your partner for all the small, mundane things they were going to do anyway. Changing a bin. Sharing a snack. "I notice and appreciate you" is a powerful, healing gesture.
If you’re over 30, quote this with some life advice 🤌🏼

I love Chinese & Taiwanese Wuxia RPGs, not only for the cool martial arts setting but also for playing differently from Western & Japanese RPGs.

I often get asked for recommendations. I had a big thread on Twitter, so here's a new one!

Here's my favorites available in English (officially or not) 🧵

This, but for other creative work, like writing and editing.
Trying to measure coding productivity is, and always will be, a fool's errand.

Why? Because I can go for a walk then take a shower and have an idea, then write a single line of code that fixes everything I was working on.

Immense productivity, but by most metrics I didn't do anything at all.

A bullshit urban legend would have you believe that Golden Axe’s voice samples come from death row inmates. In reality, two come from Conan the Barbarian and two from Rambo: First Blood.

I want to find the rest!

People posting about how they’ve never seen em dashes used before the rise of ChatGPT are really great at telling folks they’ve never read a book before.

Picked up our first playthrough of Fire Emblem: The Blazing Blade for GBA, and once again charmed by the pixel art and how much character the little pixelized faces convey.💜

No matter what happens at work, so long as you've got Crash and Parappa (who were often presented together in Japan!), everything will be okay.

The growing North American anime fandom was getting mainstream media attention by the mid-90s, with the Sci-fi Channel heading to Anaheim to ask a question: why are y'all so fascinated with Japanese animation and comic books?

The Computer Chronicles is a rich resource for demonstrations of tech developments and showcases from the early 80s onward.

Here in 2001, in an episode devoted to wireless devices and tech, the ultimately unsuccessful but stylish IBM ThinkPad TransNote gets some time in the spotlight.

I’m glad so many people are enjoying Apothecary Diaries, and it’s generating more interest in dynastic China and stories about female physicians. There was a time when anime was the nearest thing to Chinese cultures getting any rep in popular entertainment. Now, we've got some amazing Cdrama. 1/

The wonderfully surreal world of MSX Magazine covers.

This series of covers was taken from a movie made on MSX2 (it could be quite a capable video production machine) called The Flying Luna Clipper, which I'll link below.

Chinese RPGs introduced me to Hmong people and how they have some of the coolest clothing & hats ever.

On one hand I would love for more games to let me interact with a broader range of cultures... on the other, it would feel dirty to see EA or Ubisoft making money out of their cultural heritage :/
