Someone emailed me asking if I knew why Donkey Kong throws barrels and I was like "Well obviously it's because..." and then I wasn't actually sure why, aside from the fact that they roll and would be something you might see on a construction site. Did barrel throwing happen before Donkey Kong?

I’m still convinced that whatever ad executive was put in charge of this commercial must’ve been utterly confounded and/or overwhelmed by seeing the game in motion, and so they instructed their underlings to just make a commercial riffing on the silly names in the instruction manual.
