Eight years ago, when I started playing the Yakuza games, I never could've imagined that I'd become a JE translator, let alone translate on a Yakuza/Like a Dragon game, but yeah, this is somehow real!!! I was a translator on Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii!!!

I remember when Red Candles (based in Taiwan) had their game Devotion removed from Steam because of the Chinese government.
They got a lot of support on their own website. Kept the studio in business and they made the excellent Nine Sols too!

You know how I often say that ever piece of work is improved when the creator thinks it is completed, and then edited down by at least a third? There is one creative exception to this, and that is video essays on incredibly niche cultural matters.

a lot of falsehoods are getting repeated about b) by people who rightly believe a), and it doesn't help credibility.
a) The social harms of AI are vastly under-appreciated and go far beyond displacement of labor
b) The environmental harms of AI, though not trivial, are nevertheless small potatoes compared to many other industries like farming (and AI demand may even help accelerate electrical grid upgrades)

There are "media" bad actors who are trying to astroturf a particular narrative about Mamdani being antisemitic.
There are also *Jewish people* who, after their analysis, decided Mamdani either flirted with or was antisemitic, & folks would rather erase them.

I don't know which of my kouhais need to hear this, but because I'm seeing this in a ton of commercial J>E game locs: you really shouldn't retain quotation marks in the same places as the Japanese source text 9 times of 10, especially outside dialogue. Punctuation parity in general is often sloppy.
