Tickled that they are copying the guy in Chicago doing this.
Best TikTok thing going is the two dudes trying food from every country without leaving NYC. If you haven’t seen them yet, it’s incredible. My favorite so far is last week’s. Legit got me emotional.

Incredibly sad about this but I am unable to attend @sirensconference.org this year. I registered at the early bird price ($299, plus some fees rounded out to $315) and would love to transfer my registration at cost to someone who wants to go. Email me if that's you! Maybe a controversial opinion but Law is the attempted escape from the necessity of a powerful enforcer. The idea of law is to replace systems like the Weregild and the cardres and eye-for-an-eye with something we have all mutually agreed to instead.

Well Professor, it's Christmas Day 1952 and you're on the phone to the Prime Minister of South Africa asking for permission to commandeer a military flight over contested airspace to obtain a fish which may or may not be unusual. For some reason he agrees to this.

I think the civility/cruelty comment by Mamdani was probably bad political communication, or worse, red meat. The nested QT here is a good example of why.

Then look at the surface of Mars.

Then look up to the top right.

Spot Mars' moon Phobos high in the sky.

Then notice the bright spot beside Phobos.

That's Earth.

I imagine this will be precisely as easy as Democrats realizing that they are conservative but that conservatism demands many of their chosen policies.
I agree with Never Trumpers on a lot, but split hard on this: I do not think the Democratic Party needs to convince swing voters that Democratic candidates aren't too liberal. I think the party needs to convince swing voters that they themselves are actually quite liberal. They just won't admit it.

This is a bit funnier since I mostly read nonfiction, but backwards in order:
Hernan Cortez (he’s a through-line at least)
The US Constitution
Non-recyclable garbage

None of these are /great/ options.
Academic administrator, fuck.
