Apocalyptic weather forecasters out in force this week. Protect yourself against the naturally occurring phenomenon known as Winter. Includes snow, wind, ice. Temperatures a bit below what we would like. An exploding tree probably won't kill you, so no worries on that.

I keep thinking about privilege. The US is "losing its standing" in the world, is called a "rogue nation," has a mad king of a president flailing about, and democracy is in peril or already lost. And people are understandably freaked out.

He may do this but has he not noticed the highest ranking politicians in Minnesota and Minneapolis are really just trying to stay out of his way? Lol, no. We've got people on the park board with more courage.
If you did not see this coming, you weren't paying attention.

Fine, I'll bite. Or nibble around the edges. Had a dream the other night about a list that should come from @chrissteller.bsky.social re: song titles with (something or other) in the title. Can I remember that list now? Of course not. It seemed quite brilliant at the time. Damn it.
Chris Steller appreciation thread. Does anyone else have anything good to say about @chrissteller.bsky.social ? RT this, Ocean Man, to see how much people love you

Wow, just 15 minutes ago I thought to myself "I'm going to block everyone today who even suggests the killing of Nicole Renee Good is a distraction from the Epstein files." And lo, the universe did deliver.

Imagine if this was all of Minneapolis. Imagine if these drivers could be sponsored. Imagine if there was a race of some sort to declare a winner. I would pay some amount of money every winter to get my yet-to-be-determined logo splashed across the cab.
The latest in sidewalk clearing technology, now being demonstrated on Hennepin Ave.

"That's just the way we do things" is not an acceptable answer. To anything, really.

All Yule log enjoyers are pagans. Think about that the next time you set the 12 hour Yule log in fireplace video as background for a family gathering this season.
Yule ≠ Christmas

Yule is one of the oldest winter solstice festivals, with origins among the ancient Norse thousands of years ago.

Although today it’s heavily associated with, and even confused with, Christmas, the celebration existed long before Christianity. 🧵⬇️

If anyone in Minneapolis would be willing to talk to me about the DFL senior caucus and give me some insight before I join, please let me know. (For example, they don't seem to define "senior" but I'm pretty sure I'm not yet one, and is that ok?)

This week's hot topic:
REFRIGERATOR ETIQUETTE

I know having to show up to an office to work for no good reason is somewhere between annoying and rage-inducing but c'mon, you can still be a decent and sensible human being.

Honestly couldn't ask for a nicer day to vote. Thank you November, blue sky, trees of Powderhorn Park, body that still lets me walk when I really want to.

Halloween blizzard of '91? Been there, done that. Let me tell you about Halloween '87. Chilly but not cold; cloudy; no snow. Walking home from the grocery store, kids asked for candy. Looked in my bag and best I could offer was a box of Cap'n Crunch. They declined. I enjoyed my cereal. The end.

Heard a tremendous racket, came to the kitchen, found this. At least it's not another shattered coffee cup this time.

Went digging in a drawer for something else and found this.

I think Minnesota used to be super DFL? Anyway, Just Do It.
