every day is a new opportunity to play video games and eat some little treats
zomboid UPDATE: new guy, did a little customization so he is overweight on purpose both to get points for dexterous and because my last character was underweight by the end. first house i went to right next door to spawn had an alarm, so it's been a spicy few hours already

zomboid UPDATE: i died lmao, i got too brave and was like, what if i clear the whole block to the southeast at once by driving around it with my car laying on the horn and then getting them balled up in a field.

turns out that block is where all the zombies live
zomboid UPDATE: unpacked everything and my house is full of crates now. worried about gas because i think my generator won't be able to power the pumps, idk. started disassembling electronics to be able to repair stuff. ate cooked rodent meat and got depressed, then washed in the river
zomboid UPDATE: good news is i have lots of stuff from the basement hauled up in my system of farmers carrying trash bags, and i got a generator AND a book on how to use it

bad news is i cut my hand breaking a window like a doofus and i think the water shut off. luckily there's a river and power

Some thoughts:

1. The deadline for nominating a person or group for the Nobel Peace Prize is Feb. 1.

2. History professors are qualified nominators.

3. The people of Minnesota have been awe-inspiringly peaceful in the face of state violence.

4. He would be so mad.

"Do not be daunted by the enormity of the world's grief. Do justly, now. Love mercy, now. Walk humbly, now. You are not obligated to complete the work, but neither are you free to abandon it."
The grimness of US history should encourage us. Yes, people used to send lynching postcards. And other people saw that, worked towards building a more just society anyway, and succeeded beyond anyone's wildest imagination. There's more work to be done. What's our excuse for choosing despair instead?
I understand and appreciate the fact that for some it is genuinely uncomfortable and distracting to think about how grim US history is. yes, that is strategically relevant, and no, I wouldn't put "did you know people used to send lynching photos to each other as postcards?" on a recruitment flyer

Punks don’t pick fights because we know we can win them. Punks pick fights that need to be fought, because we believe in the cause.

Making sure that the United States lives up to the promises made 250 years ago, the promises never yet fully realized - liberty, equality, justice - that’s the fight.

If you embrace it, if you realise that in your hands you hold a great responsibility for your community and to actually right what's wrong with it and strengthen what's good and that, most of all, this is possible, you will be much more useful than the endless whiner or the endless penitent.
