🚨 Policy Pulse 🚨

Nearly half of Indiana hospitals are operating at a loss, driven by rising costs and inadequate reimbursement—putting access to care, especially in rural areas, at risk. Policy action is urgently needed to protect Hoosier patients and providers.

Pain is inevitable.

But you get to choose the type of pain: avoidance, or acceptance.

Therapy is like cleaning out a wound.

Is it painful? Often, yes.

But the other option - not cleaning it - leads to bigger, more long-term problems.

Update: I went and was like “sooo there are different approaches to ABA, what’s your approach like?” (🤞client centered client centered client centered🤞)

They gave me an answer about being in nature a lot which didn’t really answer my question but oh well
Despite my complex feelings about ABA, there is a new ABA center opening mere blocks away from by therapy office, so… gonna check out their open house tomorrow 👀

You won't find peace out there.

You'll only find it on the inside.

But, you must process your pain and grief to get there.

Healing works wonders.

IF you do your work.

The good news?

You CAN!

Guilt is often a control fantasy.

If you feel guilty, that implies you could have fixed, solved, or prevented something.

Could you *actually* have done something?

Or is this guilt a way to avoid feelings of helplessness or grief?

Things you can try if you're disassociating:

intense sensory experiences (cold shower, hot sauce, sour candy, brisk run, dancing, cooking w/ strong smells, aromatherapy, heavy weight/pressure, etc.)

repetitive bilateral gross motor tasks (swimming, rock climbing, rowing, elliptical, biking, etc.)
If you’re spiraling hard into panic or disassociating, having a flashback, and/or really losing it

Try gripping ice in your hands as hard and long as you can until it melts a bit, over a sink or a towel

It helps ground us in a mental health crisis

Just thought I’d share. No reason. 😅

Mad props to all the therapists in Minnesota right now. Helping people through trauma while it *keeps happening* isn't easy.

Thank you.

Pause for a moment today. Notice what’s quietly growing around you, and within you.

Spiritual bypassing is the intentional dismissal of your own feelings and realities in lieu of loftier goals, like world and inner peace.

Just so we’re clear, we can absolutely be fighting for peace AND ALSO acknowledging that living under a fascist regime is fucking scary and it sucks.

If you never feel angry, you may have learned to associate anger with abuse.

In an effort to distance yourself from becoming like your abuser, you accidentally shut yourself off from feeling this very human emotion that can be informative.
